But with hundreds of sets on sale, the sheer choice can be overwhelming – and a TV is something you’ll want to invest in wisely.

For now though, read on to find out more about Black Friday and what TV deals to expect.

When is Black Friday 2024?

Black Friday falls on November 29 2024.

As ever, it’s the day after US Thanksgiving. Not something that counts much here in the UK, of course.

But Black Friday was originally an American invention, before gaining popularity in the UK in the last couple of decades.

But now the global Black Friday sale period stretches out far longer, and you can expect to see deals online even as early as the beginning of November.

Black Friday sales continue through the weekend and close at the end of the day on Cyber Monday.

Are TV retailers taking part in Black Friday this year?

Yes: without a doubt, many retailers who stock televisions will be launching Black Friday sales.

Here’s a list of stores where we always find the best Black Friday deals on TVs, from big brands like LG, Samsung and Sony.

What you’ll find is these retailers will match each other’s prices – and with Amazon often undercutting its rivals by £1.

Something to remember is that John Lewis offers a policy of guaranteed price-matching, so keep that in mind if you think you’ve paid more than you should.

That doesn’t mean you shouldn’t shop around – TV brands such as LG, Samsung, Sony, and TCL, all have online stores, and often discount their items during Black Friday.

So keep your eyes peeled for TV deals, but more crucially, make sure you bookmark this page. We’ll be keeping it updated with all the best TV deals and price drops.

When do TV Cyber Monday sale deals end?

On Cyber Monday, deals usually last until right up to midnight – so that means you’ve got till midnight tonight to make sure you grab a TV deal.

This year, Cyber Monday falls on Monday 2nd December 2024.

In recent years, some retailers and brands have extended their sales into the rest of the week too.

So, you might see some of those TV Cyber Monday deals carry on into the Tuesday, and perhaps longer.

It’s well worth having another look to check if you can spot any extra discounts for your last-minute shopping.

What was in the TV sale last year?

We saw televisions of many different sizes, budgets and brands on sale during Black Friday 2024.

As you can see below, some prices have risen since last Black Friday, some have fallen further, and some have stayed the same.

When is Cyber Monday 2024 and are TV retailers taking part?

Cyber Monday, as you might expect, falls on the Monday directly after Black Friday. This year, that makes it 2nd December.

Traditionally it was very much an online-only sales day, but that’s changed over the years and there’s little to mark it out from Black Friday itself.

Most deals are often available both in-store and online for the duration of the sales period, so from Black Friday or before, through until the end of the day on Cyber Monday. Some deals even continue on into December.

If you’re after a particular bargain though, it’s better not to wait until Cyber Monday in the hope prices will drop further as you risk missing out. The best deals are usually available on Black Friday itself.

When do the Black Friday TV deals end?

In theory, the big sale runs for four days – through to Cyber Monday.

That’s your last guaranteed chance to bag a Black Friday TV deal.

However, you may find that there’s some leeway.

Many retailers and brands now carry on offering discounts after Cyber Monday.

Some even run their sales right into December, and the Christmas shopping period.

Conversely, some products might go out of stock before the end of Cyber Monday – it just depends on how popular they are with shoppers.

So, you need to be smart about finding a great deal at the right time – either go for it early, if you find the TV you want, or gamble or waiting it out and bagging a deal right at the end.

Either way, make sure you shop around and compare prices.

What is a smart TV?

A smart TV is a traditional-looking television, but it also comes with the internet built in.

Essentially, it lets you to do some of the things you’d be able to do from your PC, but using a remote control or a smartphone app, rather than a keyboard.

More importantly, with a smart TV you can stream Netflix or Amazon Video, as well as other digital TV channels straight from your couch, or check out your latest photos and videos directly on your television.

You can also browse the web and access the likes of YouTube with just a click of a button.

Which smart TV is best?

By our estimates, one of the best smart TVs out there is the Sky Glass – you can find out more from our tech editor’s Sky Glass review.

Sky Glass is a 4K, QLED TV that doesn’t need a satellite dish. Much like a regular smart TV, the Glass can connect directly to the internet and let you stream a wide variety of channels.

Alongside Sky Glass, there’s also Sky Q – a set-top-box offering multiple services integrated with smart TV features and Ultra HD support.

All major brands such as LG, Samsung and Sony sell Smart TVs, and there are likely to be big discounts at this time of year.

One of our top picks is JVC’s Android TV 32-inch Smart HD Ready LED TV with Google Assistant that is only £149 (saving £70).

LG Smart TVs are also pretty standout – every new LG TV runs on the WebOS smart platform, which is arguably the most versatile smart TV system currently on the market.

How much electricity does a TV use?

The amount of electricity a TV consumes will depend on its size and energy rating.

It will unlikely be a surprise that the bigger the size of the TV, the more electricity it will use.

To get a rough idea of electricity use, look at the kWh/1000h number. This will show you how much it costs to run the TV over a year. 1,000 hours per year is equivalent to two – three hours a day or 19 hours a week.

If you want to reduce the energy consumption of your TV, we recommend you set the brightness control to automatic.

Also, ensure you have power/energy saving mode activated.

It’s also worth setting a sleep timer on your TV. That way, it will automatically power off if it’s not been used for a few hours.

Is Black Friday a good time to buy a TV?

Absolutely. Tech products take a major role in the Black Friday sales, and you’ll often find enormous discounts on televisions, as well as on other electrical items.

Late November is always the perfect moment to pick up a great TV for less money than usual, and our advice is to hold off upgrading until then.

That said, it’s not the only time of year to bag a bargain TV – Easter time is also a major sales period, and during Amazon Prime Day (both of them), Prime subscribers are granted access to lots of decent telly deals.

Should I wait until Black Friday to buy a TV?

Definitely. Unless that is, you’re in dire need of a new television because your existing TV has stopped working.

It’s wise to save your spending until Black Friday as you’re going to find the best deals available over the Black Friday weekend.

Retailers save their best discounts until late November rolls around, knowing that’s when shoppers will be on the look-out for premium deals.

Whether you’re looking for a TV for all the family to watch over the festive season, or a Christmas gift for the kids, then you’re going to get more bang for your buck by buying during the Black Friday sales.

Should I buy a TV on Black Friday or wait for Cyber Monday?

If you see an amazing TV deal on Black Friday, and one that’s the right screen size and budget for you, we suggest you don’t hang about until Cyber Monday.

If it’s a genuinely good price drop, it could easily become sold out over that weekend.

On top of that, Cyber Monday isn’t the standalone event that it was historically.

Traditionally, it’s a day of online-only deals, in contrast to the in-store aisle-dashing on Black Friday itself.

But these days, with online shopping booming, there’s very little difference between Black Friday and Cyber Monday.

You might find a final wave of TV deals on the latter day – but if we’re being honest, it will likely be a last-gasp stock push from the retailers and we don’t think it’s worth banking on.

For more information on Cyber Monday check out When Is Cyber Monday 2024.

How much can I save on a Black Friday TV deal?

If you look at the Black Friday TV deals from past years, you’ll definitely see big savings across product ranges and from all the major brands.

If you’re buying a cheaper TV, you could still save something like £180 on a set costing £369 – right up to a huge saving of £1,200 on a more expensive £2,299 TV.

That’s why it is worth planning ahead and then shopping around on Black Friday to get the very best deal for you.

Are TVs really cheaper on Black Friday?

You better believe it – of all the dates in the sales calendar, it’s Black Friday where you’ll always see the best savings on TVs from all brands, sizes and price points.

That being said, there are so many price drops out there during Black Friday it’s important to separate the good ones from the mediocre ones.

Luckily, we’ll only feature the very best TV deals on this page, so make sure you bookmark it and keep returning to see all of the latest offers.

It’s also worth checking for extra discounts on big brands on the Sun Vouchers page.

What kind of Black Friday TV deal should I buy?

That really depends on what you’re looking for. There are incredible high-end TVs with cutting-edge screens and exciting smart features – and if you buy top of the range, you’re likely to make big savings too.

But at the other end of the scale, you’ll also find good savings on cheaper TVs, which are still fantastic to watch all your favourite programmes on, just without some of those extra features.

The important thing is to have a strong idea of expectations and available budget. Then on Black Friday itself, to compare all of the available deals from different brands before making your purchase.

How to measure a TV

When we talk about TV measurements, whether that’s 32 inches, 43 inches, 50 inches or bigger, we mean the size of the screen between the two diagonally opposite corners.

It’s an industry standard to measure the screen in this way and brands always list the diagonal screen size.

If you want to know how large your TV is, or how much space you have for a TV, it’s fairly easy to work out with a tape measure, simply check the height and width – and don’t forget about the depth, especially if you’re planning to position the TV on a cabinet or shelf.

You can find out more in our how to measure a TV screen explainer.

Speaking on Capital Breakfast, Will revealed he and AJ are each facing obstacles ahead of filming.

He told the radio team: “I’ve got a stiff neck. It’s a bit better today, yesterday was bad, I’ve got an emergency physio in a couple of hours after this.

“It’s always good to just before the biggest show of the year, when you’re going to be live for six weeks, with all kinds of mad stuff, to not be able to move. “

Addressing co-host Chris Stark, Will added: “So I’m sorry Chris I can’t really look at you [laughs], you’re on the wrong side!”

Meanwhile, the star addressed his fellow presenter AJ Odudu‘s absence from the interview.

Will explained: “AJ’s lost her voice as well. I saw her yesterday, we did a podcast record.

“That’s why she’s not doing radio today!”

It comes as the pair previously teased how producers have “raised the bar” on challenges in the new series.

Speaking exclusively to The Sun, Will said: “I’m excited about the tasks, I think the tasks this year, maybe some learning – not learning as that makes it sound like there were things that could have been better – as the tasks were phenomenal last series.

“But I’ve been speaking to a few members of the team and I think they’ve raised the bar even further this series.

“I think the tasks have been taken up a notch.”

Meanwhile, both presenters shared which iconic task they are hoping returns this series.

AJ shared: “Big Wigs for me, I thought it was so funny the hierarchy and everyone dressed ridiculously. That was very amusing.”

While Will replied: “In previous series, I liked some of the simple ones. I liked it when they sat in boxes and they just had to sit in a box.

Fire horror hits the cobbles as drugs secret takes terrifying twist in Coronation Street

The ITV soap has already seen teenager Hope (Isabella Flanagan) has already been suspended from school following being caught vaping at school.

Hope has had issues with fires before, but could she be set to strike again?

Yet Coronation Street‘s resident firestarter is set to get worse, with her hiding her vaping habit and warning younger sister Ruby not to tell anyone.

Viewers will watch as on Friday October 11, Hope’s school teacher Mrs Crawshaw comes round to talk to Fiz (Jennie McAlpine), Tyrone (Alan Halsall)  and Hope.

She brings up Hope’s recent misdemeanours and how they can all focus on changing her behaviour.

A quick thinking Hope tries to convince them all that she has given up vaping for good.

Yet she’s left gutted when Mrs Crawshaw says she can return to school.

After she has left Hope sneaks her vape out of the sideboard when Evelyn calls her to come and help in the shop.

Yet as she quickly stuffs the vape back in the sideboard and runs out, she’s unaware of the curl of smoke escaping from the drawer.

As the smoke and flames get worse, it could spell danger for Ruby who is due home at any moment.

In the past Fiz and Tyrone have tried to lecture Hope on the harmful effects of vaping, yet it’s always seemed like she has other ideas.

In past chats, Hope hasn’t been interested in listening to her parents instead taking desperate measures to get her hands on a new stash.

She’s even tried to steal some vapes from the corner shop to fulfill her nicotine cravings.

Coronation Street is available to watch on ITV1 and ITVX.

JENNIFER Aniston’s new interview on Jimmy Kimmel proved to be quite revealing as she cleared up a string of wild rumours.

The Morning Show star appeared on the late night chat show in order to discuss her new childrens’ book, Clydeo Takes a Bite Out of Life, which is inspired by her dog.

The star was confronted with a list of bizarre rumours – with most of them being true[/caption]

But while on the show, she was confronted by a series of wild stories including an InTouch article front page that suggests she was getting in the middle of Barack and Michelle Obama‘s marriage.

Laughing at the insinuation, Jennifer said: “That was… of all the calls you get from your publicist, where you’re just like ‘oh no, what’s it going to be?’ or an email saying some cheesy tabloid is going to make up a story, and then it’s that… I was not mad at it!”

“That is absolutely untrue,” she confirmed, adding she’s only met him once and is actually closer to Michelle.

Seeking the opportunity to dispel rumours, Kimmel started reeling off a string of things Jennifer is believed to have done.

She confirmed she had got a salmon sperm facial, a controversial and bizarre new trend sweeping Hollywood, saying: “I did, but let me explain to it, it’s not like… how do you get sperm out of a salmon?

“It was sort of unclear, I just took the woman’s word that it was what it was, and was just like ‘sure!'”

The star went on to explain how it the sperm was injected into her skin via microneedling.

She then joked: “Don’t I look like a salmon? Don’t I have beautiful salmon skin?”

Jennifer also confirmed travelling abroad with jars of olives, having a ziplock bag of her dead therapists ashes, being asked for a selfie while naked in a selfie, and having an art-piece having in the MoMa when she was 11.

She also confirmed she would belly dance for her parents, saying: “The Greeks love at any kind of a family dinner… it’s like when you say to your child ‘play piano for everyone’.”

However she denied having a $4000 anti-aging water fountain in her home for her dogs or having a black belt in jujitsu.

During the interview, Jennifer paid a sweet tribute to Kris Kristofferson, who played her father on The Morning Show, following his death last week at the age of 88.

She also spoke about her new book, noting the proceeds will be going to the Clydeo Fund – a charity created in order to support animal rescue organisations around the world.
