Watch the shock moment Lacey’s MUM breaks down in tears after MAFS groom Nathan’s cruel joke

MARRIED At First Sight star Lacey Martin’s mum breaks down in tears in tonight’s show after groom Nathan Campbell makes an insensitive joke during a family dinner.

His rude gag about the quality of her cooking leaves a sour taste in the mouth and his mother-in-law can’t hide her upset.

In awkward scenes, she grows tearful at the dinner table as Lacey, the bride’s sister, and Nathan watch on.

Nathan, who is proving a hit with fans, puts his foot in it when he says the dinner, which is chicken fajitas, tastes like something “out of the bin.”

The evening starts positively enough with Lacey singing her man’s praises.

She says: “He’s never raised his voice to me, he’s never called me any names, he listens to me.

“Obviously dating someone with ADHD is different but it’s helped me to be more patient and how he feels about me he shows me in actions.

“He makes me a cup of tea, he makes me breakfast in bed when I was feeling unwell and he was asking if I wanted anything.”

Lacey’s mum turns to her sister and says: “She’s already defending him.”

Nathan, in a piece to camera, reveals: “It’s really nice to hear Lacey in my defence, she seems to be becoming more comfortable with me, and everything seems to have gone well.”

But things soon took a turn, as the camera zooms into Lacey’s mum folding a tortilla.

Nathan says: “Take it with you if you want as well because that’s awful. I’m joking, I’m joking, I’m joking.”

Lacey’s mum looks completely shocked, and says: “His banter is coming out now.”

But Nathan doesn’t leave it there, as he continues to offend by saying: “I could go ‘that looks like the bottom of a bin’ but I ain’t going to.”

Lacey can be seen in a shot off camera saying: “Nath, shut up!”

Nathan tries to downplay his comment, but Lacey’s sister tells him: “She just gets a bit sensitive with her food you know.”

Lacey’s mum fires back: “Not even my food, I thought that was a bit rude.”

Nathan reassures her, saying: “I was joking, I was joking,” which led Lacy’s sister to encourages him to say sorry, so he did.

But it isn’t left there, as Lacey’s mum goes on: “Lacey wouldn’t speak to your mum like that, especially when she’s been cooking. It’s just not very nice and you’ve upset me now.”

To which Nathan replies: “It’s just a joke that me and Lacy had between each other.”

And Lacey’s mum responds: “But I’m not Lacey, I’m her mum.”

Here we take a look at Phil’s time on the show, as well as his illustrious motor racing career.

Who is Phil Keen?

Phil Keen was born on October 20, 1983, in Reading, Berkshire.

Former Top Gear presenter Jeremy Clarkson revealed Phil was the third and final person to play the “The Stig” on the show.

Phil took on the role between the years of 2010 and 2022, right up until the show was cancelled.

Jeremy hosted a viewing party for the final episode of The Grand Tour at the pub on his farm, where he told a crowd: “The original Stig was Perry McCarthy, followed by Ben Collins, followed by Phil Keen.

“There isn’t a current Top Gear so there isn’t a current Stig, but the last one was Phil Keen.”

On top of inhabiting the suit of the mythical legend, Phil is also a top professional racing driver who’s had an incredible career spanning over two decades.

Racing Career

Phil has enjoyed a long and successful stint in GT racing.

He was crowned champion in the British GT Championship SuperSport class in 2009.

Phil won an incredible eight races out of 14 alongside his team-mate Marcus Clutton during the course of the season.

It was the only year he drove in the SuperSport class — he returned to GT3 the following year.

At the age of 40, Phil still competes in the class — as of October 3, 2024, he was sitting in fourth place.

He is considered to be the most successful driver in the championship’s history.

Driving for Barwell Motorsport between 2016-18, Phil finished runner-up three years in a row.

He holds a record 19 British GT Championship wins, with 12 poles.

And he’s also racing in the European Le Mans Series LMGT3 category for the 2024 season.

There isn’t a current Top Gear so there isn’t a current Stig, but the last one was Phil Keen

Jeremy Clarkson

Phil has competed in various GT3 cars, including the Lamborghini Huracan GT3, Porsche 911 GT3-R, BMW Z4 GT3, Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo and Ferrari 296 GT3.

He served as an official Lamborghini factory driver and won the 2019 GT World Challenge Europe Pro-Am title with the manufacturer.

His total career wins so far stand at 45, with 92 podiums and 22 poles.

The Stig gig

Phil took over the role of The Stig in 2010, following Ben Collins’ departure from the show.

He continued in the role until Top Gear’s final episode in 2022.

As The Stig, Phil’s main job was setting lap times for cars tested on the show’s track at Dunsfold Aerodrome.

He was also responsible for training celebrity guests off-camera for the Star in a Reasonably Priced Car segment.

Legendary legacy

Phil’s tenure as The Stig spanned over a decade, making him the longest-serving driver to take on the legendary role.

His reveal as the man in white marks the end of an era for Top Gear fans, closing the chapter on one of television‘s best-kept secrets.

The Stig’s identity was always a closely guarded secret, with the character never speaking on camera and always appearing in full racing suit and helmet.

Every Stig’s anonymity was part of a long-running joke on the much-loved show.

Fans rage at ‘worst offside decision I’ve ever seen’ after Tottenham are let off against Ferencvaros

FOOTBALL fans couldn’t believe that Ferencvaros’ opener against Tottenham in the Europa League was ruled out for offside.

Ferencvaros forward Barnabas Varga nodded home in the 17th minute only for the officials chalk it off for offside.

Varga appeared to be played onside by Cristian Romero but the decision stood after a VAR check

The Hungarian champions had been on top of Ange Postecoglou‘s side in the opening exchanges and a delicious cross from Eldar Civic was placed perfectly onto Varga’s head.

The striker did great to direct it into the far corner and put his side a goal up but soon had his celebrations cut short by a VAR check for offside.

The immediate replay looked to show that Varga was being played onside by Cristian Romero, but the goal was disallowed after a lengthy check.

The TNT Sports commentary team speculated that it could have been because Adama Malouda Traore, who didn’t touch the ball, was deemed to have interfered with play from an offside position.

Traore was significantly offside but didn’t appear to have much, if any, of an influence on the passage of play.

However it was confirmed afterwards that Varga was indeed offside and it was just the camera angle that was making him look as though he was onside.

At half-time TNT pundit Joe Cole described it as an “optical illusion”.

However, that didn’t stop fans from taking to social media to fume at the decision.

One wrote: “That is an outrageous decision. How is that offside?”

While another added: “Think that’s the worst offside decision i have ever seen”.

A third posted: “He’s given offside, Tottenham have got away with one there”.

And a fourth fumed: “That’s the most ridiculous offside I’ve ever seen”.

To make matters even more controversial, just six minutes later Spurs took the lead through Pape Matar Sarr.

Tottenham held onto that lead heading into the break, meaning their inexperienced side – which featured four teenagers – were able to take an advantage into the second half.

‘We’ll definitely be there’ says top trainer as excitement builds for French star’s King George tilt at Christmas

NOEL GEORGE has confirmed his “outstanding” stable star will “definitely be coming to Kempton” for the King George on Boxing Day.

Il Est Francais blew punters last year when winning a Listed race in France by 11 lengths, before going on to win the Grade 1 Novice’s Chase at Kempton on Boxing Day by the same whopping distance.

Il Est Francais has been compared to five-time King George winner Kauto Star by trainer Paul Nicholls.
Times Newspapers Ltd

The six-year-old, who has prompted comparisons to the famous Kauto Star, left Champion trainer Paul Nicholl’s Hermes Allen trailing in the dust on last year’s big Christmas outing.

At the time Nicholls, who was magnanimous in defeat, said: “That’s another Kauto Star was my first reaction to it.”

But George’s hero was unable to follow up the brilliant success, finishing a miserable 55 lengths behind the winner when next seen in April at Auteuil.

The unpredictable superstar was once again back to his best on September 28th last week when he stormed ahead of his rivals in a French Group 3, filling his handler with confidence.

George, 25 and son of Gloucestershire-based trainer Archie George, said: “He will definitely be coming to Kempton at Christmas.

“And he will have definitely needed this run.

“He’s shown everyone how good he is. He sees his jumps and accelerates. He slipped a bit before the ditch and did well to get away with it. Normally, he’s a very good jumper so it’s exciting times.

“He’s a top class horse. Whatever you ask him, he’s capable of doing it. But his races take a bit out of it as he does do it the hard way. He’s such an exuberant horse.”

The next step is France’s top Autumn chase, La Haye Jousselin in the second week of November, before he heads over to Kempton for the mighty King George.

The horse, who tends to make mincemeat of his rivals when he shows up, has captured the hearts of punters.

One said on X: “Proper star – will have a huge fan club.”

Another added: “Just wow.”

Tom George is a rising star in France after decamping from our shores during Covid.

The son of the Grade 1 winning trainer took out a joint license with his wife, the Swedish Amanda Zetterholm.

We found our son dead after he was treated at a hospital ‘worse than prison’ where he was ‘banned from stepping outside’

A HEARTBROKEN family discovered their son dead after he was treated at a hospital “worse than prison” and “banned from stepping outside”.

David Alan Thornton, 45, tragically took his own life after staying at the Royal Blackburn Hospital, Lancashire, to seek help with mental health.

His family had made plans to take him out for lunch, but he chose not to go.

They sadly discovered him dead at their home when they got back later in the afternoon.

David’s devastated family have now slammed the NHS teaching hospital he received treatment at and claimed it’s “worse than prison”.

It comes as a coroner concluded there was inadequate communication and documentation during David’s treatment, as reported by Lancashire Live.

An inquest heard coroner Kate Bisset criticise the “toing and froing” David had to endure between several mental health hospitals.

She determined “David had acted impulsively” in taking his own life, but also found his experience of services provided “was not as it should have been”.

David was an outdoors lover who often went fishing to help boost his mental health.

When he had been treated at a unit in the former Calderstones, in Whalley, David thrived due to a large garden.

But he spiralled when moved to the Royal Blackburn Hospital.

A statement by David’s parents Linda and Alan was read to the inquest in which they wrote: “His family couldn’t understand why he had been moved, he wasn’t well enough to agree to it or to challenge it.

“It was worse than a prison to him as he wasn’t allowed outside. He wanted to return to Whalley.”

David subsequently transferred back to Woodview at Whalley and stayed for six days before returning to his family home.

But his key mental health worker did not monitor his prescriptions.

This left David and his family fearing he would run out of necessary medication.

LSCFT team leader Emily Eaton was asked about David’s medications.

She said: “It was recognised that he had only been given 14 days.

“When a patient is put on new anti-psychotic medications they should be given a three-month supply and monitored for 12 months.”

His health worsened after he began taking one anti-psychotic drug – resperidone, alleged David’s family.

They said it left him “dribbling from the mouth”.

The inquest also heard how David had been hearing voices and thought he was Gordon Ramsay.

He believed he had spoken to the late Queen at Ascot and thought something had been implanted in his brain at the Kennedy Space Centre.

At the inquest a mental health nurse with Lancashire and South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust (LSCFT), said there was nothing in David’s records to justify why he was moved around so much.

Nurse Ubaid Javed, who was not directly involved in David’s care, said the reason for relocations should have been documented.

There also should have been records of handovers done from old to new wards.

“There was nothing in the records to state what was handed over,” he said.

A review carried out after David’s death found “lessons to be learned” and there was not a complete care plan in place.

Area Coroner Kate Bisset said: “How many inquests in the last month have I heard there was an incomplete care plan? I can think of at least three.”

Speaking to David’s family the coroner said: “I think you are absolutely remarkable people as a family.

“If I ever struggle with mental health I would count myself incredibly privileged to have a family like you.

“I often say that if clinicians communicated better, I’d be out of a job.

“However I can’t say that if David had stayed in hospital the same would not have happened.

“I can’t say that there is any area of care that could or should have been different which would have made a difference to David but that is not to say that I think your experience is as it should have been.”

You're Not Alone

EVERY 90 minutes in the UK a life is lost to suicide

It doesn’t discriminate, touching the lives of people in every corner of society – from the homeless and unemployed to builders and doctors, reality stars and footballers.

It’s the biggest killer of people under the age of 35, more deadly than cancer and car crashes.

And men are three times more likely to take their own life than women.

Yet it’s rarely spoken of, a taboo that threatens to continue its deadly rampage unless we all stop and take notice, now.

That is why The Sun launched the You’re Not Alone campaign.

The aim is that by sharing practical advice, raising awareness and breaking down the barriers people face when talking about their mental health, we can all do our bit to help save lives.

Let’s all vow to ask for help when we need it, and listen out for others… You’re Not Alone.

If you, or anyone you know, needs help dealing with mental health problems, the following organisations provide support:
