McDonald’s reveals iconic menu item is returning to the UK in just DAYS after almost a decade

MCDONALD’S has confirmed it is bringing back an iconic burger that hasn’t been seen in the UK for almost a decade – and fans will be delighted.

Social media has been awash with rumours over the past few weeks that the much-loved McRib was making a shock comeback.

The McRib is making a comeback after nearly 10 years away[/caption]

And now, the fast food chain has revealed the legendary burger will indeed be back on sale in just days for the first time since early 2015.

The menu item will be available across UK restaurants from October 16, just over a week away, for a limited time only.

The burger, which combines a pork patty with tangy barbecue sauce, pickles and onions, will be on sale for £4.49 as an individual item or £6.19 as part of a medium extra value meal.

The burger itself contains 509 calories.

Customers have long begged for the McRib, which first launched in the UK in 1981, to return to menus after it was abruptly removed almost a decade ago.

Thomas O’Neill, head of menu at McDonald’s UK, said: “We have heard our fans loud and clear – the fan petitions and pleas on social – and after almost a decade of anticipation, we are thrilled to bring back this iconic menu item.

“Knowing how well-loved the McRib is, we had very little choice – we had to make it happen.”

It comes after a mystery message appeared on dozens of McDonald’s customers MyMcDonald’s apps with a glitch that appeared to signify the McRib was returning.

Fast food fans took to X and Facebook two weeks ago sharing images that showed “page not found” and “McRib Test Notification” error messages that had cropped up on their phones.

Posting on X, one said: ” “Ummm excuse me McDonald’s, we all saw it. THE MCRIB IS COMING BACK!”

Another commented: “McDonald’s thought they could sneak this one by and I wouldn’t notice. McRib coming to the UK.”

Another said “McDonald’s just let everyone in the UK know the McRib is coming back with a broken text notification”, to which a fellow fan replied: “This isn’t an accident, it’s a marketing ploy. Rather clever!”

OTHER MCDONALD’S MENU CHANGES

McDonald’s regularly shakes up its menu or introduces games to keep customers on their toes.

The fast food chain recently announced it is adding mini hashbrowns to menus for the first time.

Customers will be able to get the twist on a classic menu item across more than 1,300 UK restaurants from October 16 – the same date the McRib is being relaunched.

Foodies can pick up a five-pack for £1.49 while a 15-piece sharebox will cost £2.99.

Remember though that prices do vary from restaurant to restaurant so you could pay more or less than these prices.

It is not yet clear whether the hashbrowns will become a permanent menu item, so if you want to give them a go, make sure you’re quick.

Six menu items will also be removed later this month when the McDonald’s Monopoly game comes to a close.

These are the six items that customers will have to wave goodbye to:

  • Philly Cheese Stack
  • Chicken Big Mac
  • Mozzarella Dippers
  • Galaxy Chocolate McFlurry
  • Twix Caramel McFlurry
  • Twix Latte

If you are curious about how the game works and what prizes you can win, read our article here.

It is worth bearing in mind that McDonald’s regularly updates its menu,  so it is always worth reading updates online to avoid missing out.

The chain regularly posts on social media informing customers of any upcoming changes.

How to save at McDonald's

You could end up being charged more for a McDonald's meal based solely on the McDonald's restaurant you choose.

Research by The Sun found a Big Mac meal can be up to 30% cheaper at restaurants just two miles apart from each other.

You can pick up a Big Mac and fries for just £2.99 at any time by filling in a feedback survey found on McDonald’s receipts.

The receipt should come with a 12-digit code which you can enter into the Food for Thought website alongside your submitted survey.

You’ll then receive a five-digit code which is your voucher for the £2.99 offer.

There are some deals and offers you can only get if you have the My McDonald’s app, so it’s worth signing up to get money off your meals.

The MyMcDonald’s app can be downloaded on iPhone and Android phones and is quick to set up.

You can also bag freebies and discounts on your birthday if you’re a My McDonald’s app user.

The chain has recently sent out reminders to app users to fill out their birthday details – otherwise they could miss out on birthday treats.

Shamed rockstar leaves fans devastated as he cancels gigs last minute after being rushed to hospital ‘spitting blood’

SHAMED ex Kasabian star Tom Meighan has been forced to pull the plug on several gigs after being rushed to hospital while “spitting blood”.

Tom, who was sacked from the band for attacking his then-fiancée during a drunken row, first cancelled a show in Newcastle “on doctors’ orders”.

He had been due to perform his one-man gig at the city’s Riverside Newcastle venue on Tuesday but had to cancel at the last minute.

He now has ” a large wound on his neck” following surgery and also pulled out of a concert in Leeds.

Tom’s show on Friday in Manchester is also hanging in the balance after a larges abscess was removed from his throat.

In a video filmed from his hospital bed, Tom said: “I had a f***ing abscess removed from my throat today. It was f***ing hell.

“It was literally a f***ing hell raiser. It was f***ing frightening.

“At least the bo****k has gone and I’m surviving. Listen, I’m getting fit, I’ve tried to walk around and that…and I’ve just not got it in me until tomorrow. To be continued.”

He then thanked fans for messages of support and the hospital staff who have treated him.

News of Tom’s health emergency first came to light on Tuesday, after his official Instagram page posted a message saying his Newcastle gig had been cancelled “on doctor’s orders”.

In a worrying update, his drummer Gareth added in the comments: “Tom has been struggling with this since earlier in the week but last night after the Bristol gig was spitting out blood.

“This morning I spoke with him and he was in tears with pain and struggling to swallow.

“So today we get to see him a top doctor and dentist at the earliest possible appointment to get the necessary drugs to get him through tonight’s show.”

However, Gareth said that after Tom ‘received an injection’ he was still unable to perform.

“The infection had set in, Tom’s jaw looked like he had three double chins and it was advised by the medical team to postpone tonight so Tom can get it cleared up and enable us to continue the tour,” he added.

Gareth then further explained how cancelling gigs is “a very expensive business for Tom”, meaning the decision wasn’t taken lightly.

Tom has since been forced to cancel a second gig in Leeds and a third in Manchester on Friday is also hanging in the balance.

His team said online: “We are monitoring things on an hour by hour basis. He has a serious wound on his neck but is eager to get back on stage. We’ll make a decision by 11am Friday morning.

“Tom’s health has to remain our overriding priority but things are looking positive. Thank you again for your love and support. Xx.”

Six years ago, the Kasabian frontman was booted out of the band for attacking his then-fiancée Vikki Ager in a drunken row during lockdown.

Chilling CCTV footage revealed the singer struck his partner, had his hands around her throat and dragged her into the garden by her ankles.

Meighan, who initially denied domestic assault in a police interview, was described as having “smelt heavily of intoxicants” and was acting “aggressively” and “uncooperative”.

In court, he was ordered to undertake five days in rehabilitation, carry out 200 hours community service and he received an 18-month community order.

Kasabian said they were “completely heartbroken” but couldn’t stand by what he had done.

Tom returned to performing after his conviction, but he has lived in the shadows of his former success, explaining he lost his home, job and friends.

Ten Hag sets yet another horror record as Man Utd manager after Porto draw as he faces one game to save his job

WOEFUL stats are mounting faster for Manchester United than the pressure on Erik ten Hag.

As stirring as Harry Maguire’s last-gasp rescue was for the 10-man Red Devils at Porto, the crazy 3-3 draw revealed more of United‘s shocking failings.

The Europa League thriller means no Premier League club has let in three or more goals more often in all competitions than Ten Hag‘s men since he took charge at Old Trafford in April 2022.

United now visit Aston Villa – buoyant after toppling Bayern Munich in the Champions League for a make-or-break Prem clash on Sunday.

However, despite another night of dodgy defending, Ten Hag insisted he is still in it for the long haul.

The Dutchman said: “We will get there. Don’t judge us in this moment, judge us at the end of the season.

“We are in the process, we will improve. We have two seasons now where we achieve finals – just wait.

But he did admit: “You see again that the team is willing, strong character, but the middle part, the defending we have to improve.

“We have to be better on the ball and defend better.”

United, free-flowing early on, were deservedly 2-0 up through Marcus Rashford and Rasmus Hojlund, although Porto keeper Diogo Costa somewhat blundered for both goals.

But legendary centre-back Pepe and Samu Omorodion soon headed the Portuguese giants level.

Ten Hag took off a confident-looking Rashford for the second period – later raising eyebrows by revealing it was purely to rest the striker for the weekend rather than any injury.

And Spanish forward Omorodion promptly cracked the home side in front.

In fact, Porto could easily have exposed more gaps at the back for United.

Ten Hag then made another bold decision – bringing off both central defenders, Lisandro Martinez and Matthijs De Ligt, with Maguire and Jonny Evans coming on in a like-for-like gamble.

But almost immediately star Red Devils’ midfielder Bruno Fernandes saw red for the second game in a row, courtesy of a controversial second yellow card late on.

Fortunately, Maguire soared to head home a point-saver in stoppage time.

However, even though it was a defender who stole in when most needed, the Red Devils are being robbed of decent stats by their dodgy backline.

United have now conceded at least three goals for their last four European away days, with just one victory in their past 10 Euro ties.

That’s four at Bayern, then four, three and three against FC Copenhagen, Galatasaray and Porto respectively.

Casemiro had another miserable night in United’s midfield[/caption]

Surely no team can challenge for a trophy with such forlorn facts ‘n figures.

And if you look at the bigger picture – all competitions – the Red Devils also lead the leakers amongst Prem sides.

United have surrendered two or more goals 31 times since the start of last season.

That’s yet another unwanted tally for which United top the table.

No wonder they will travel to Unai Emery‘s high-flying Villa with the heat around Ten Hag really starting to prickle.

The Red Devils sit just 13th, with just two wins from six games.

That matches their worst-ever Prem start to a campaign and leaves fans fearing the pain might deepen before it is eased – unless Ten Hag finds a quick solution that is also the key to his future
