Fans fume at Old Trafford panini ‘cooked in a volcano’ as Man Utd told ‘there’ll be a Gary Neville monologue’

FOOTBALL fans were left stunned after a picture was shared of a burnt panini served at Old Trafford that looked like it was “cooked in a volcano”.

Manchester United were held to a disappointing 1-1 draw at home to FC Twente in their Europa League opener on Wednesday night.

Erik ten Hag‘s men took the lead through a Christian Eriksen stunner, but relinquished the lead in the second half as Sam Lammers’ strike earned a point for the visitors.

And it is not only on-field performances that are falling below expectations at the Theatre of Dreams.

The food on offer at the ground has also been slammed after a picture posted by Sport Scran on X left supporters astonished.

It showed a fan holding a cheese and ham panini that had been so burnt the majority of the bread was black.

Despite the poor quality, it still set the individual back £4.70.

Reacting to the image, one person said: “Cheese and ham? That’s a charcoal panini.”

Another added: “What did they cook that in? A volcano?”

A third replied: “We’ve got to listen to a Gary Neville monologue about how they’re burning the paninis at Old Trafford next time they lose 0-3 to Man City.”

This was the picture which stunned fans on social media

While a fourth responded: “That’s been in the oven since they last won a league title 🤣.”

And a fifth said: “It looks like a car has driven over it.”

The criticism of Man Utd‘s food comes after it was revealed back in August that co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s new cost-cutting measures have left employees eating beside the toilets.

On the pitch, Ten Hag’s side began the season with just one win in three as they suffered defeats to Brighton and Liverpool.

A win over Southampton was followed up by a victory against Barnsley in the Carabao Cup, but draws to Crystal Palace and Twente have now dimmed the mood once more.
