BEAUFORT COUNTY, N.C. (WNCT) — On September 20, Deputies with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Greenville man.
Patrick O’Brien Coffey Jr. was arrested on multiple drug charges after a brief car and foot chase. Coffey had active arrest warrants already by the Greenville Regional Drug Task Force and was spotted by deputies in Aurora, N.C., operating a vehicle.
Deputies attempted to conduct a traffic stop, but Coffey refused. After a brief car chase, Coffey wrecked his vehicle and fled on foot. Deputies caught up to him and he was apprehended without incident.
As a result of the arrest, over 15 grams of powdered fentanyl, $3,311 in cash, a firearm and a small amount of marijuana were located.
Coffey was arrested and held in the Beaufort County Detention Center under a $200,000 cash only bond under the following charges:
- Trafficking in Opium/Heroin (Fentanyl) by Possession
- Trafficking in Opium/Heroin(Fentanyl) by Transportation
- PWISD Schedule II Controlled Substance (Oxycodone)
- Possession of Marijuana up to ½ Ounce
- Two counts of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
- Resisting a Public Officer

- Four counts of Trafficking in Opium/Heroin
- Two counts of Trafficking in Methamphetamine
- Two counts of Felony Maintain a Vehicle or Dwelling to Keep/Sell Controlled Substances
