Caldwell Community College Volleyball Sweeps Central Carolina Community College

Caldwell Community College & Technical Institute’s volleyball team continued their winning ways, disposing of Central Carolina Community College in straight sets Thursday in Sanford, NC.

Caldwell dominated set one, winning 25-7. The Cobras enjoyed a double-digit lead in set two, before Central Carolina rallied to make the score a respectable 25-20 final. Caldwell led all of set three, winning again by a score of 25-20 to sweep the match.

Freshman Destiny Jordan (Hickory, NC) led Caldwell in kills with nine, followed by freshmen Anna Kirkland (Statesville, NC) and Kelsey Plumley (Hickory, NC) with eight kills each. Sophomore Josie Chappell (Roseman, NC) had 21 assists to go along with freshman Taylor McClure’s (Statesville, NC) 15.

Defensively, sophomore Emily Ramirez (West Jefferson, NC) had 22 digs. Also registering double digit digs were Kirkland with 11 and freshman Gracie McClure (Statesville, NC) with 10. Plumley and sophomore Leah Pimentel (Charlotte, NC) had three block assists each.

Caldwell improves to 19-3 overall and 8-1 in Region 10 Division Three matches. The Cobras return home on Saturday for a tri-match with Pitt Community College and USC-Salkehatchie starting at 11AM. It will be “Sophomore Day” as Caldwell will honor their sophomore student-athletes.
