Caldwell Community College Volleyball Finish Regular Season With Win

Caldwell Community College & Technical Institute’s volleyball team finished the regular season with a 3-0 victory over Rockingham Community College Tuesday night in Hudson.

Caldwell won by set scores of 25-7, 25-9, and 25-7.

During the second, sophomore libero Emily Ramirez (West Jefferson, NC) recorded her 1,000th career dig. She becomes the first player in program history to achieve the milestone. She finished the match with nine digs.

Sophomore Greenleigh Gleason (Louisburg, NC) led the team with eight kills and a 0.727 hitting percentage. Freshman Taylor McClure (Statesville, NC) and sophomore Leah Pimentel (Charlotte, NC) each had six service aces. Pimentel had five kills and a o.714 hitting percentage. Sophomore Josie Chappell (Rosman, NC) finished with 18 assists.

With the victory, Caldwell finishes the season with a 22-3 overall record, 9-1 in Region 10 Division 3 play. The Cobras tied for first place with Sandhills Community College in the division. However, the Flyers hold the tiebreaker over Caldwell and will be the top seed in the Region 10 Division Three Tournament.

Caldwell will be the host for the Region 10 Division Three Tournament on Saturday starting at 11AM. In the first semi-final, Sandhills will face the winner of Wednesday’s quarter-final match between Central Carolina and Rockingham. The second semi-final will feature the Cobras against Patrick & Henry Community College.
