Burned body identified as Granite City woman; suspect at large

ST. LOUIS – Homicide detectives with the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department have identified the body of a woman found burned in the city’s Baden neighborhood last weekend. The suspected killer has skipped town.

According to a police spokesperson, the body was located on the evening of Saturday, Oct. 19, in the 1200 block of Switzer Avenue. District 6 police officers responded to a call around 8:30 p.m. and found the victim in a parking lot. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The victim was identified as Kiya Holt-Biggs of Granite City, Illinois. She was 21.

Detectives eventually identified Zaveon Mills, 21, as a suspect in Holt-Biggs’ death.

The St. Louis Circuit Attorney’s Office charged Mills with first-degree murder and armed criminal action.

Mills is believed to have fled the St. Louis area and possibly the state in order to avoid arrest.

Anyone with information on Mills’ whereabouts is asked to contact the SLMPD’s Homicide Division at 314-444-5371. Tipsters who wish to remain anonymous or are interested in a cash reward should call CrimeStoppers at 866-371-8477.
