Burger King, Taco Bell, KFC and Pizza Hut pull ingredient and are urged to ‘destroy it’ after McDonald’s E coli outbreak

FOUR major fast-food chains have pulled an ingredient from their menu after a deadly E. coli outbreak at McDonald’s left dozens sick.

Fresh onions were pulled from Burger King, KFC, Pizza Hut, and Taco Bell after authorities said it was the most likely source of the outbreak which left one dead at a Colorado McDonald’s.

A further 49 people have fallen ill with 10 hospitalized following the E. coli outbreak which has affected fast-food restaurants in 10 different states.

On Wednesday, Taylor Farms, a McDonald’s supplier, recalled several batches of yellow onions produced in a Colorado facility.

The US Department of Agriculture said fresh onions are the likely source of the outbreak.

In response to the death of an elderly McDonald’s customer in Colorado, the fast-food giant withdrew Quarter Pounders from its menu in Colorado, Kansas, Utah, and Wyoming.

Restaurants in parts of Idaho, Iowa, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, and Oklahoma have also seen the Quarter Pounded pulled.

McDonald’s and Coke are fighting to calm customers’ fears in the wake of the outbreak, with retail experts telling The U.S. Sun that major brands must work to regain consumers’ trust.
