Boy, 7, in hospital with ‘life-changing injuries’ after being hit by bus on busy street

A seven-year-old boy was hospitalised with “life changing” injuries after being hit by a bus in Manchester, police said.

The horrifying crash took place on Moston Lane East in the Moston area at around 6.20pm on Saturday, October 12.

Police officers and paramedics raced to the scene following reports of a collision between a bus and a young child.

The boy was treated at the scene before being taken to hospital. According to Greater Manchester Police, the injuries are described as life-changing but not life-threatening.

A spokesperson for GMP said: “We are investigating a collision between a bus and a seven-year-old boy which occurred at 6.20pm yesterday, Saturday, October 12, in Manchester.

“The bus had been travelling on Moston Lane East when it struck the child.

“The boy sustained serious injuries and remains in hospital at this time. These injuries are described as life-changing but not life-threatening.

“No injuries were reported by anyone on the bus.”

Emergency services cordoned off the area following the incident, with pictures showing a Bee Network bus inside the police tape.

Investigations continued late into the evening near the junction of Moston Lane East and Broadway, while the road was closed in both directions.

Police are now appealing for witnesses to come forward, especially those who may have dash cam or CCTV footage from the area at the time of the crash.

The GMP spokesperson added: “We would appeal for any witnesses who have not yet spoken to us to contact our Serious Collision Investigation Unit.”
