Billy Ray Cyrus’ ex-wife Firerose has shared details from the day she knew her marriage was truly over.
The Australian singer, 34, and the country music star, 63, officially finalized their divorce in August, three months after Billy Ray first filed, citing “irreconcilable differences.”
And Firerose claims she got the bad news because she was home alone awaiting breast surgery.
She says Billy Ray’s divorce filing on May 23 came just one day before she was scheduled to undergo the first of two scheduled surgeries for a preventative mastectomy.
Firerose decided to undergo the procedure after discovering she has the BRCA1 gene mutation, which increases a person’s chance of developing cancer.
“We went to bed together, and when I woke up, he wasn’t there,” she says in this week’s issue of Stellar Magazine.
‘It wasn’t unusual for him to lock me out and give me the silent treatment, but it was very unusual for him to leave for a whole day. He didn’t come home that night.’
She continued: “I was alone on the farm, with no security lights on. “I was terrified and stunned because he wasn’t answering my calls or texts and he knew I had to be in the hospital the next day.”

Firerose claimed she postponed the surgery and left Billy Ray’s farm the next day and has not spoken to her now ex-husband since. She underwent her mastectomy last month.

Elsewhere in the interview, the singer admitted she wished she had ‘run away’ from the star when they first met, as she discussed their tumultuous marriage.
During their increasingly bitter and public split, they accused each other of verbal and emotional abuse, and Firerose walked away from the divorce with $0.
She said she first met Billy Ray in 2010 when she left an audition on the Hollywood lot where Hannah Montana was filmed and started talking to him as she petted his dog.

Firerose, a 22-year-old “starving artist” at the time, insisted she did not recognize Billy Ray, who immediately offered to introduce her to everyone on set.
Billy Ray was married to his wife Tish at the time and although nothing happened between the couple until more than a decade later, Firerose said they stayed in touch.
She claimed that Billy Ray often talked about them becoming “soulmates” despite her being “not interested in any way.”
‘I couldn’t have seen ten years into the future. “When I think about what I just went through, I would have told my 22-year-old self to run in the opposite direction and never look back,” she admitted.
Firerose said they lost touch during the Covid-19 pandemic before Billy Ray reached out and rekindled their friendship, before a romance eventually blossomed.

“He said bizarre things like, ‘We’re going to experience an epic love story beyond what you can imagine.’ We are having twins and naming them Melody and Harmony,” she claimed.
She said he promised to take her horseback riding around his Nashville ranch and to a special beach in California, but claimed neither of these things ever happened.
Firerose said she became isolated from her family and friends during their romantic relationship, but said she believed Billy Ray was “protective” of her.
She recalled, “Suddenly, instead of being my normal, vibrant, outgoing self, I became very introverted, unless we were working or collaborating in public, where I would often try to be overly positive because I was afraid of telling anyone to show. how devastatingly withdrawn I had become.”
The couple announced their engagement in August 2022 and exchanged vows at their farm in October 2023, with Firerose claiming she only had one friend in her bridal party: her hairstylist.
She claimed she only wanted to love and trust Billy Ray, but their marriage broke down within seven months and a divorce was granted on the grounds of “irreconcilable differences.”

They both accused each other of verbal and emotional abuse during their public and bitter split, with their divorce ultimately finalized on August 2 this year.
Court documents obtained exclusively by DailyMail.com revealed that Firerose walked away from the divorce with $0, but a source said she was fine with the agreement.
For the most part, the divorce agreement ensured that each party walked away from the short marriage with what they brought to it in the first place.
However, the terms of the agreement revealed that Billy Ray agreed to assign any claims he may have to credits or royalties on songs the couple co-wrote or published before and during their union.
“She was content to do nothing but deal with him and get away from the situation,” the insider exclusively told DailyMail.com.
However, Billy Ray accused Firerose of only marrying him to get the surname Cyrus, saying she changed her name from Hodges – her first husband’s surname – just a few weeks before their divorce.

“It’s a shame it ended this way,” he added. ‘Love is blind, that’s for sure.’
In July, DailyMail.com revealed shocking audio of Billy Ray belittling and mocking the Australian singer.
Billy Ray posted no attempt to deny the claims a day after his rant and text messages appeared on Instagram, but seemingly doubled down on his words.
He said, ‘Yes, I was at my wits’ end. As the day went on, I started to realize something was wrong.”
Billy Ray’s marriage to Firerose, which took place just four months after Tish filed for divorce, is said to have put a strain on his relationship with his daughter Miley, 31.
Billy Ray was still married to Tish when he first met Firerose in 2010, but nothing happened until he asked her to duet with him on a version of Tanya Tucker’s Delta Dawn more than a decade later.
He was married to Tish for 30 years and they share three children: Miley, Braison, 30, and Noah, 24.
Billy Ray also has a son from a previous relationship and adopted Tish’s two older children, Brandi, 37, and Trace, 35, when they married.
