Bill Belichick makes clear statement to Dak Prescott and Dallas Cowboys over poor start following head coach job talk

BILL BELICHICK has sent a clear message to the Dak Prescott-led Dallas Cowboys about their poor start to the season.

The Cowboys are 2-2 on the 2024-25 campaign, but have lost two in a row at their home AT&T Stadium.

They did beat the New York Giants 20-15 on Thursday night, but were never convincing in the contest.

Head coach Mike McCarthy is already fighting to save his job after the poor start, and the blowout playoff loss last year.

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones also handed out a four year, $240 million contract to quarterback Prescott this summer.

But Belichick is refusing to rule them out as Super Bowl contenders just yet, despite the indifferent start.

“Look, the Draft is over. Free agency is over,” said Belichick on the Pat McAfee Show.

“I wouldn’t expect a lot of big trades here.

“I think there’s enough talent in Dallas to get things straightened out.

“They have to look in the mirror, look each other in the eye and say we’re going to do it.”

Belichck isn’t shocked by the Cowboys opening four games, and sees similarities to last season.

And the New England Patriots legend, 72, has pinpointed where they are struggling in games.

“Well, this is the same thing they ran into last year. Right?,” added Belichick.

“The games they fell behind early and teams that ran the ball against them like Buffalo ran for 250 yards last year.

“They had three or four games where they gave up over 175 yards rushing and got beat.

‘Don’t do your job’

Bill Belichick is known for telling his former New England Patriots players to ‘do your job.’

But he took aim at Rob Gronkowski during the Tom Brady roast.

“You know, a lot of people connect me with a saying called, ‘Do your job.’ And telling people to do their jobs,” Belichick said.

“Gronk, I’ve been watching on Fox NFL Sunday and I’m begging you – stop doing your job.

“Do another job. Do somebody else’s job!”

“This is the same issue they had last year.

“Of course, these last two at home are definitely a problem.

“I still think they can move the ball.”

The Cowboys started the season well, heading to the Cleveland Browns, where they won 33-17.

But back-to-back home defeats to the New Orleans Saints and Baltimore Ravens had them in trouble.

The NFC East is a tough division this year, with the Philadelphia Eagles and the Washington Commanders.

And with the Cowboys having not won a Super Bowl in almost thirty years, it is now time for them to deliver.
