Musician Freeman had a lovely moment at his album launch after he invited a fan who was thrashed onstage by security in Kariba.
The Kariba incident occurred on 19 October and courted social media controversy.
The Violent Encounter
During the Kariba performance, the excited fan jumped onto the stage and attempted to hug Freeman while performing his song “Vakomana veDrip”. Security quickly intervened, and the situation escalated into violence.
Two bodyguards were seen punching the fan with clenched fists and violently throwing him back into the crowd. The video of the incident went viral on social media, sparking outrage among fans and the public.
Freeman addressed the criticism, stating that he had no idea the security personnel would react so violently and that it all happened very quickly. He expressed regret and apologised for the incident, explaining that the security guards were not part of his entourage but were employed by the event promoter.
Initially, Freeman tried to find the fan after the show to apologise personally but could not locate him. His team managed to track the fan and invited him to the HKD Music Festival.
Freeman Invites Beaten Kariba Fan Onstage
The festival took place at Alex Sports Club on Saturday, and Freeman invited the Kariba fan to the stage.
After pausing his performance, the HKD Boss called the man, and they embraced on stage. The musician introduced the Kariba fan to the crowd before asking how he felt.
The fan revealed that he was injured after the security tossed him off stage, but he was now recovering. He then spoke glowingly of Freeman before walking off stage. Watch the moment below.
