Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office collecting donations for storm victims

WASHINGTON, N.C. (WNCT) – A local law enforcement agency announced it has begun collecting disaster relief supplies for storm victims in western North Carolina.

According to a Facebook post, the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office said people can bring donations of disaster relief supplies to the rear entrance of the sheriff’s office located near the intersection of North Market Street and West 2nd Street in Washington.

“The sheriffs are managing with limited resources and Sheriff Hammonds is in communications with the North Carolina Sheriff’s Association who is helping sheriffs coordinate support for one another,” the Facebook post stated.

People are asked to bring the following donations:

  • Non perishable food items (consider items that do not need to be cooked to eat)
  • Paper towels & toilet paper
  • Toiletry items (travel packs contain all needed items)
  • Bottled water
  • Flashlights with batteries

The trailer is located behind the Beaufort County Courthouse adjacent to the sheriff’s office.
