Awkward moment Strictly’s Wynne Evans asks Katya Jones if she is ‘getting close’ amid hand-push scandal

The bizarre behaviour sent shockwaves online – forcing the pair to issue an apology to fans.

Now a recent interview with the Mirror has resurfaced, showing Wynne quiz Katya on her relationship with the cast.

Wynne asked: “I’ve not seen anyone [getting close], are you getting close to anyone?”

Shocked Katya replied: “Me?”

Wynne insisted: “Yeah. I don’t know, I’ve not seen you getting close [with anyone], though you could be.”

The viral footage has sparked yet more controversy for the show, following the sacking of pro dancer Graziano Di Prima.

He was accused of kicking Love Island‘s Zara McDermott in rehearsals during an investigation into co-star Giovanni Pernice.

The 34-year-old Sicilian of ten out of 16 allegations when its probe concluded last month.

Six claims were upheld, including bullying and harassment, while bosses apologised to Amanda.

Show bosses say no action will be taken after Katya and Wynne were checked on by the welfare team.

Speaking out about the fallout today, Wynne said: “I’m absolutely heartbroken by the things that have been written about me in the last day.”

He added: “It’s not nice to live in that time, but basically Katya and I are really, really close and we’re really good friends, and on Saturday night we made a stupid joke.

“It was a stupid joke that went wrong, OK? We thought it was funny. It wasn’t funny. It has been totally misinterpreted.”
