It also applies an ‘FA Cup-style’ draw for each stage, meaning there is no ranking protection – and anyone can draw anyone.

Many round one matches of this year’s British Open have already taken place in Leicester – but all the top 16 seeds and others – have had their tournament openers saved for the main venue in Cheltenham and the TV cameras.

Defending champion Mark Williams will be looking to retain the Clive Everton Trophy after his epic 10-7 triumph over Mark Selby last year.

However, snooker fans have been left devastated as legend Ronnie O’Sullivan has now withdrawn from the tournament.

When is the British Open 2024?

The British Open began on July 31 – with some stars playing their round-one matches early at Leicester’s Morningside Arena (results below).

First-round ties involving the top 16 in the world and others will begin on Monday, September 23, at the Centaur Arena in Cheltenham.

The tournament will conclude on Sunday, September 29.

Fashion fan transform’s her Shein sandals into flawless Hermes dupes & she only needed a dab of nail varnish remover

WE’D all love to have that chic wardrobe filled with designer labels but managing to afford it may be a different story.

However, one fashion fan has discovered just the trick and it has managed to make it look like she owns £610 sandals.

Joudy didn’t want to fork out £610 on the Hermes sandals[/caption]

She loved the hack so much that she shared it on TikTok and it has since gone viral with over 22.9 million views.

Fashion fan Joudy, who is known as @joudyaall on TikTok, revealed how she transformed her Shein sandals into flawless Hermes dupes.

In the video, she explained that she only needed a dab of nail varnish remover.

Whilst demonstrating her trick, she jokingly wrote: “Poor people things.”

In the video it shows that she bought brown sandals which would look similar to the Oran Hermes with the iconic “H” cut-out ones but these had the Shein logo on the heel.

So to make them more like a dupe to the Hermes ones, the savvy fashion fan got some nail varnish remover and cotton pad and started using it to wipe down the logo.

Her video gained a lot of attention with over 634,000 likes, and over 2,800 comments.

One wrote: “For your information, Hermes shoes are really uncomfortable so you just saved your pocket and feet!”

Another added: “Girl maths: You just saved 700$!”

A third said: “I have the same slippers and I couldn’t care less.

“Imagine spending 100s of dollars on the real ones. That’s a joke to me.”

Whilst some said that the fashion fan should be proud of where she got the sandals from.

A big fan of budget online retailers said: “Hell no!! I wear it proudly and when asked I say it was £4 on Shein! Lol.”

And another asked: “Why be ashamed of it? Luxury brands have the same quality as the other cheap brands.”

Someone else also mentioned: “Most probably these shoes are from the same manufacturer, where many other companies are labelling their stuff.”

Dancing With The Stars’ Carrie Ann Inaba hits back at fake heiress’ Anna Delvey’s ‘dismissive’ elimination remark

DANCING With The Stars’ Carrie Ann Inaba has hit back at Anna Delvey’s ‘dismissive’ elimination remark that shocked viewers.

Viewers fumed that her partner Ezra Sosa, 23, “deserves better” as the convicted con artist, 33, failed to show appreciation for all his work over the past few weeks.

Anna had replied, “Nothing,” when asked by host Julianne Hough what she was taking from her experience, leaving ballroom pro Ezra visibly taken aback.

The fake heiress has now come under fire from judge Carrie, 56, who has been left disappointed by her lack of “gratitude”.

She told Entertainment Weekly: “I was taken aback by her comment when asked what she learned from being on the show, and she flatly said, ‘Nothing.’

“That was dismissive not only of the opportunity she was given, of her wonderful and supportive partner Ezra in his debut season, but also of all of us who work on the show-from the dancers to behind the scenes to the creative team.

“We all put in the effort to give her a fair opportunity. But I don’t think she could see that and it’s a shame. A little gratitude could have changed the narrative.”

For their final performance, the pair danced the quickstep to KT Tunstall’s Suddenly I See, with Ezra poking fun at her stern personality by holding up the corners of her mouth.

Tori Spelling and Pasha Pashkov were also given the boot in the double elimination.

Earlier in the episode, Anna’s friend Julia Fox made a guest appearance, explaining that her tough exterior is simply a “defense mechanism.”

Backstage, however, she was spotted with a broad grin, seemingly unbothered by her departure from the competition.

TENSE PARTNERSHIP?

Anna may have been relieved that her time was up – following our report that she had been rubbing Ezra the wrong way.

An insider explained the infamous fake heiress – who served nearly four years in prison on theft-related charges before her release in 2021 – has been “focused on herself” instead of acting as part of a DTWS team.

“There is a lot of tension between Anna and Ezra, and it is growing by the day,” the insider exclusive told The U.S. Sun.

“Certainly the cause of much of it is that Anna seems less focused on collaboration and more focused on herself.

“She can be negative too about what she can achieve with dances, even though she keeps telling everyone she is a hard worker.

“Ezra has been frustrated because he really wants to make an impact as the new kid on the block at DWTS.”

TOO GOOD FOR REALITY TV?

Anna has also acted as though the ABC reality show is “beneath” her, the insider claimed.

“She has a mindset of promoting herself as ‘ambitious,’ treating this like a stepping stone to something bigger.

“Production members say that her attitude makes it feel like she acts as if the show is beneath her.

“There is a sense it is all about Anna’s world, and what is important to Anna, not anyone else.

“Dancing is a collaboration and to succeed, partners need to be in tune.”

The talented Ezra, who was promoted from a troupe member to a professional for Season 33, is “focused on going far in the competition,” despite Anna’s attitude.

“Ezra brings the energy, excitement and excellent ability every minute of every day,” the source said.

“He is doing his best to push Anna to achieve better performances, knowing that can get them further in the competition.”

Anna, who wears an ankle bracelet as she faces deportation back to her native Germany, has also complained about relocating to Los Angeles from New York.

“Another dampener in their relationship is that Anna complains about being in Los Angeles. She openly told him and production that she prefers New York many times,” the source added.

“She compares everything to NYC, always in the negative.

“Given she defrauded people in her past with her poise, charm and personality, so far those traits have not yet been seen.

“She is considered cold and awkward in conversations. She knows that she is an outsider within the cast, but has not made too many strides to try to make friends.

A rep for DWTS did not respond to a request for comment.

DANCE ‘DISS’

On the show’s premiere, fans noticed that Anna appeared to snub Ezra with an unplanned departure from her routine.

At the beginning of their dance to Sabrina Carpenter’s Espresso, Anna walked alone ahead of Ezra down the stage, leaving him only able to throw up his hands in dismay before following her lead.

Many took the move to be an attempt to take the spotlight solo.

“She made a creative choice on the fly and it just didn’t work,” one viewer said.

“She’s so unserious, I was wondering if it was a bit, but watching this back I’m so dead. LMAO his face,” a second viewer chimed in.

STAYING POSITIVE

Despite his rumored feelings about Anna, Ezra has put on a brave face to the show’s fans, sharing videos of the two rehearsing together.

On Monday, the pro took to Instagram to defend his partner against show fans who want to vote her off as soon as possible.

“Hoping everyone gives Anna some grace,” he told fans.

“She’s working so hard to start fresh, and we’re only just getting started.”

All the ways Kate & Wills break royal tradition parenting Prince George – from dress codes to social media

PRINCE George’s life is laid out for him in many ways as heir to the throne.

However, Prince William and Princess Kate are breaking a number of royal traditions when it comes to raising their 11-year-old son, from his education to his holidays.

The Prince and Princess of Wales are keen for George to have as normal an upbringing as possible[/caption]

Here’s how the future king’s life differs so far differs from his dad Prince William and grandfather King Charles…

Education

Kate and William are keen to give their children a happy childhood, and this is reflected in their schooling choices for George, Charlotte and Louis.

Royal author Phil Dampier told Fabulous that Charles hated the schools he was sent to and was even bullied during his time away from home.

He shared: “Prince Philip decided Charles should go to the same schools as he did and Charles was packed off as a boarder first to Cheam, and then Gordonstoun in Scotland, where he was bullied.”

While Charles famously hated being isolated at Gordonstoun, Prince George is with his siblings at Lambrook School, and currently lives at home with his family.

Phil added: “It’s hard to imagine George being bullied at school in the same way today.

“William and Kate have tried to give him a normal schooling.”

Prince George’s school’s ethos is creating pupils who will leave “Lambrook as confident, happy, engaging, independent and kind young people who are outward looking in all that they do.”

Won’t have to serve in the military

It is customary for members of the royal family to serve in the military, but this may not be the case for George when he grows up.

Phil claimed William and Kate are “unlikely to force Prince George into joining the armed forces if he doesn’t want to.”

Freedom with university

The expert claimed that George may be given more freedom over his education choices too, in contrast to King Charles, whose university was picked for him.

Phil claimed: “In December 1965 however, the then Queen and Prince Philip hosted a dinner party with the express purpose of discussing Charles’s future.

“The guests included the Prime Minister Harold Wilson, the Archbishop of Canterbury Michael Ramsey, Philip’s uncle Lord Mountbatten, the Dean of Windsor and the Queen’s private secretary Sir Michael Adeane.

“Charles was not invited and was told afterwards by Mountbatten his future would be Trinity College Cambridge, Dartmouth Naval College and then a spell in the Royal Navy.”

Social media

Unlike William and Charles, George is growing up in the era of social media, and the Prince and Princess of Wales have embraced this with their official Instagram and YouTube accounts.

The couple have hired the services of talented filmmaker Will Warr, and he was the mastermind between the family’s recent emotional video where Kate shared how she has finished chemotherapy.

Kate released this heartwarming video sharing how she is now cancer-free, and it featured her kids[/caption]

George has been seen in a number of posts – but Phil stressed that they heavily “control” what they show of their private life.

He said: “Well, I think the main thing is they like to have is a sense of control over these things.

“They were in charge of the image and the narrative they want to put out there.

“Kate, of course, as we know, has been taking her own photos for many years of the family.

“So in that way they’re controlling things and controlling their image.”

Down-to-earth holidays

Although they have been known to jet off to the luxury A-lister island of Mustique, William and Kate are also keen for their kids to have “normal” holidays too.

Kate’s recent video showed the family playing cards with Carole and Michael Middleton, and running around in the woods.

Editor-in-chief of Majesty Magazine, Ingrid Seward said they love going to their countryside home, Anmer Hall.

She added: “They can take advantage of everything Sandringham has to offer, including wonderful beaches and miles of paths through the estate to ride on ponies or bikes.”

Kate Middleton's 'golden rule' with George, Charlotte and Louis

KATE'S key rule for Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis is about kindness.

According to HELLO! Online’s Royal Correspondent: “Based on observations of photographs of Princess Diana at the time, and the current Princess of Wales, they are both very affectionate with their children.

“Kate is often seen holding her children’s hands or picking them up for cuddles when they were smaller.

“There are often lots of comforting gestures, such as a pat on the back or stroking their hair. When interacting with other children on her public engagements, Kate often crouches down to their level to engage with them – something that Diana would often do.”

When she’s at the family’s home of Adelaide Cottage in Windsor, despite her royal status, insiders say Kate is just like any other “normal mum”.

A friend explained that behind closed doors, the 42-year-old is “very chilled at home” but definitely not a pushover and will tell the kids off when needed.

They told PEOPLE: “It’s a normal, busy family home with kids running around and knocking things over. There’s no airs and graces.

“She is doing that to help her children be more grounded and keep their reality in check. That’s what really matters to her.”

Dress codes

While we often see George and his siblings smartly dressed for occasions such as Trooping the Colour, we’ve also seen them in relaxed outfits too.

When Prince George met the Obamas in 2016, the young royal met the then-President in his dressing gown.

Barack joked: “It’s not just Congress. Even some foreign leaders they have been looking ahead, anticipating my departure.

“Last week Prince George showed up to our meeting in his bathrobe. That was a slap in the face. A clear breach of protocol.”

New Wetherspoons pub set to open inside the old London Dungeon

A NEW Wetherspoons pub could soon open at one of the UK’s oldest train stations – on the old site of a major UK attraction.

The pub chain has revealed plans to open in the former site of the London Dungeon.

The old London Dungeon site opened in 1974[/caption]

Called The Sun Wharf, the new pub would open in the arches under London Bridge station.

The location was once home to the London Dungeon until 2013, before it moved to its new location nearby on the South Bank.

Having first opened in 1974, it originally opened with just historical waxworks, before evolving into theatrical shows you could walk through including events such as the Fire of London and Jack the Ripper.

After being bought by what would become Merlin Entertainments in 1992, London Dungeon moved locations after 39 years, with the rebuild costing £20million and now welcomes more than 700,000 people a year.

If the Wetherspoons pub is given the go-ahead for the location, it would open seven days a week, from 6:30am until 12:30am.

The planning application, submitted on September 11, is yet to be confirmed.

However, the location has remained empty due to it being hard to let, according to Network Rail.

Back in 2017, they submitted to the local council: “The residual premises provide a very poor quality environment.

“The former user (London Dungeon) was somewhat unusual in so far as the poor quality environment was its main attraction.

“NR Commercial Property has been unable to identify other potential D2 users willing to lease the residual space in its current state.”

An official opening date is yet to be confirmed.

It would be the second Wetherspoons to open near London Bridge, joining the The Pommelers Rest at Tower Bridge.

London Bridge station is the oldest London railway terminus that is still running, having opened in 1836.

Now, it welcomes around 140,000 passengers a day, making it one of the busiest in the city.

As well has having underground services including the Northern and Jubilee lines, it also connects travellers to central London and destinations across Kent via overground services.

But it isn’t the only Wetherspoons pub to have recently opened at a UK train station.

London Dungeon moved in 2013 to South Bank[/caption]

The Lion and The Unicorn opened underneath Waterloo train station in London earlier this month.

It is one of the biggest pubs that Wetherspoons has opened to date.

The Sun’s Laura McGuire was one of the first to go down, saying: “Overall the pub had a more modern feel to it compared to other more historic locations as it’s situated in The Sidings, which was built on the grounds of the former Eurostar Terminal.

“I have to say the view from this location is not spectacular, and if you’re not facing a window you are just going to have a view of the Sidings shopping centre.

“But considering it is just a minutes run from the hundreds of trains departing from Waterloo Station it is hard to complain.”

The largest Wetherspoons pub is found in Ramsgate, right next to the beach.

How can I save money at Wetherspoons?

FREE refills - Buy a £1.50 tea, coffee or hot chocolate and you can get free refills. The deal is available all day, every day.

Check a map – Prices can vary from one location the next, even those close to each other.

So if you’re planning a pint at a Spoons, it’s worth popping in nearby pubs to see if you’re settling in at the cheapest.

Choose your day – Each night the pub chain runs certain food theme nights.

For instance, every Thursday night is curry club, where diners can get a main meal and a drink for a set price cheaper than usual.

Pick-up vouchers – Students can often pick up voucher books in their local near universities, which offer discounts on food and drink, so keep your eyes peeled.

Get appy – The Wetherspoons app allows you to order and pay for your drink and food from your table – but you don’t need to be in the pub to use it.

Taking full advantage of this, cheeky customers have used social media to ask their friends and family to order them drinks. The app is free to download on the App Store or Google Play.

Check the date – Every year, Spoons holds its Tax Equality Day to highlight the benefits of a permanently reduced tax bill for the pub industry.

It usually takes place in September, and last year it fell on Thursday, September 14.

As well as its 12-day Real Ale Festival every Autumn, Wetherspoons also holds a Spring Festival.

Also in Kent is the beautiful Samuel Peto – here’s what we thought when we visited.

And we’ve rounded up some of the most beautiful Wetherspoons in the country.

Walmart shopper ‘confronted by “plain-clothes” worker & forced to endure 3 receipt checks’ – pay slip was in clear sight

A WALMART shopper claimed she had to go through three receipt checks when trying to buy items for her home.

The furious customer fumed at the fact she was being quizzed by a supposed worker, who wasn’t wearing a uniform.

The TikToker claimed she was asked for a receipt despite the slip being attached to a box[/caption]

The TikToker (@flygirl333) filmed inside the supermarket and had a television in her shopping cart.

She was stunned that the worker wasn’t sporting a traditional Walmart uniform.

The supposed worker started to inspect the box and the receipt attached to it, while the shopper continued to hurl expletives.

The TikToker was incandescent with rage as she had reportedly been asked for her receipt two previous times.

Her shopping cart didn’t just contain the huge orange TV box but other items as well.

“This is a shame,” she said.

The TikToker pleaded to shoppers to help her put the items in her car.

She accused Walmart of not helping her when she had two TVs.

It’s not known why the shopper was asked to show her receipt.

Other TikTokers claimed in the comments that it is the chain’s policy to ask shoppers to provide evidence of receipts when items have not been bagged.

The U.S. Sun has approached Walmart for comment.

Walmart does not have an official policy when it comes to receipt checks across its stores.

The supermarket’s approach is different from that of Costco and Sam’s Club.

Receipt checks are part of the contract shoppers sign when they become a members at wholesalers.

Legality of receipt checks and detention

In an effort to curtail retail crime, stores are increasingly turning to receipt checks as shoppers exit.

Legally, stores can ask to see a customer’s receipts, and membership-only stores have the right to demand such checks if shoppers agreed to terms and conditions that authorize it.

Many legal professionals have weighed in and come to similar conclusions, caveating that all states do have specific laws.

Generally speaking, stores have Shopkeeper’s Privilege laws that allow them to detain a person until authorities arrive when they have reasonable suspicion that a crime, like theft, has been committed.

Declining to provide a receipt is not a reason in itself for a store to detain a customer, they must have further reason to suspect a shopper of criminal activity.

Due to the recent nature of the receipt checks, there is little concrete law on the legality of the practice, as it takes time for law to catch up with technology.

Setliff Law, P.C. claims that “there is no definitive case law specifically relating to refusal to produce a receipt for purchases.”

For stores that improperly use their Shopkeeper’s Privilege, they could face claims of false imprisonment.

“The primary law that applies to these types of wrongful detention cases is called ‘False Imprisonment’,” explained Hudson Valley local attorney Alex Mainetti.

“Of course, you’re not literally imprisoned, but you’re detained by a person who has no lawful authority to detain you and/or wrongfully detains a customer.”

It is likely that as altercations in stores over receipt checks continue, more court cases will occur giving clearer definitions and boundaries to the legality of receipt checks.

The purpose of receipt checks has been explained on the Costco website.

Costco says the inspections are a “standard practice” to ensure items have been verified correctly.

“We do this to double-check that the items purchased have been correctly processed by our cashiers,” the chain says.

“It’s our most effective method of maintaining accuracy in inventory control, and it’s also a good way to ensure that our members have been charged properly for their purchases.”

The inspections are also carried out at Sam’s Club but have caused division.

Some have compared the checks to security theater.

Interactive map reveals obesity capital of the UK where 1 in 3 people are obese – where does your area rank?

TWO thirds of adults in England are overweight or obese, the latest statistics show.

An interactive map reveals which areas have larger waistlines than others.

New NHS data revealed the number one hotspot for tubby adult Brits is Yorkshire and Humber.

Seven out of every ten (72 per cent) people living in the northern region are classified as overweight or obese – meaning their body mass index (BMI) is 25 or above.

Carrying a lot of extra weight or being obese can increase the risk for all sorts of health problems, from diabetes to different types of cancer.

The newly published data, for 2022, covers the period in which Britain was plunged into a cost-of-living crisis and emerged from a series of lockdowns.

Both situations, experts have warned, could trigger weight gain.

The second fattest region was the North West, where 69 per cent of residents fell under the same category.

Meanwhile, the bronze medal went to the West Midlands, where 68 per cent of residents were podgey.

The North East ranked closely behind in fourth place, with 67 per cent of its residents being overweight or obese, with the North West hard on its heels with 66 per cent.

The East Midlands and the South West came in joint sixth place with 63 per cent of people living in both places falling into the unhealthy group.

The South East took seventh place, with 62 per cent of people living there being overweight.

The areas with the lowest proportion of chubby locals were neighbouring East of England and London.

Some 61 per cent of those living in the East of England there were classified as overweight or obese, which dropped down to 59 per cent in the big smoke.

The data, based on the Health Survey for England, surveyed almost 8,000 adults aged 16 and over.

The stark new figures also revealed that with each passing decade, Brits were adding more ‘cushioning’ around their waistline.

It found that weight gain peaked – for both men and women – between the ages of 55 and 74.

The same data also showed rates of obesity among adults have stagnated, having not fallen since 2019.

Dr Clare Hambling, NHS England’s director for diabetes and obesity, said: “Obesity is one of the biggest threats to health in the UK – it affects every human organ system and can have a major impact on people’s lives.

“Obesity increases people’s risk of type 2 diabetes, heart disease, stroke, cancer, mental ill health and many other illnesses which can lead to shorter lives, or affect quality of life, with greater need for healthcare.

“Today’s figures show the importance of supporting people who are overweight or living with obesity to reach a healthier weight.

“The NHS can play its part in that, alongside local councils, but we need to work with the rest of society to tackle the issues that contribute to obesity to help people remain as healthy as possible.”

Cost-of-living and lockdown-related weight gain

The average woman needs to eat around 2,000 calories a day to maintain a healthy weight, while the figure is 2,500 for men.

Weight gain occurs when a person, over time, consumes more calories than they burn.

Research conducted in 2022, found that more than half of Brits believed the increased cost of living had made it harder for them to make healthy food and drink choices.

A poll of 2,000 adults found more than a fifth (23 per cent) weighed more in 2022 compared to a year before that, while 58 per cent of these believe the financial crisis has contributed to their weight gain.

Figures from 2021, suggested 40 per cent of British adults gained an average of 3kg during the pandemic.

They said this was because people tended to move less during prolonged periods of lockdown, with emotional eating and gym closures intensifying the trend.

Obesity has been well established as increasing the risk of serious health conditions that can damage the heart, such as high blood pressure, as well as cancers.

Being too fat has been estimated to cause one in 20 cancer cases in Britain, according to Cancer Research UK.

Britain’s growing obesity crisis is also estimated to cost the nation nearly £100billion per year.

All the ways obesity can KILL you

Being overweight doesn’t automatically kill you.

But carrying excess fat is associated with lots of health problems.

Firstly, there’s heart disease.

Extra body fat can lead to high blood pressure and cholesterol, raising the chances of heart attacks.

Then we have type 2 diabetes.

Carrying excess weight makes your body resistant to insulin, resulting in high blood sugar levels and complications like kidney failure.

Obesity is also linked to 13 different cancers, which include:

  • Adenocarcinoma of the esophagus
  • Breast cancer in postmenopausal women
  • Colon and rectum cancer
  • Uterus cancer
  • Gallbladder cancer
  • Upper stomach cancer
  • Kidney cancer
  • Liver cancer
  • Ovaries cancer
  • Pancreas cancer
  • Thyroid cancer
  • Meningioma, a type of brain cancer
  • Multiple myeloma

Sleep apnea, which disrupts breathing during sleep and can make people snore, is another risk.

Not being able to breathe properly can lead to a sudden drop in oxygen levels, which can be bad for the heart.

Being obese can also impact mental health, often leading to depression and anxiety due to stigma and discrimination.
