Xbox will shut down popular Game Pass feature and players have just months to adapt

IN this age of technology, most consoles have an app so that you can purchase and download games to your console from your phone.

This means you can download games while you’re out and about, and they’ll be ready to play when you get home to your console.

Xbox gave a sneak peek at what the app will look like[/caption]

Xbox currently has two apps for its console: the main Xbox app, and one specifically for Xbox Game Pass.

The Game Pass app is, as the name suggests, for Game Pass subscribers so they can browse the library and download games they are interested in.

You can also do this from Xbox’s main app, but there you can also see the games you own to download.

Android players can also stream games from the cloud to their phones directly through the app for remote play.

However, starting in November, Microsoft plans to integrate its Xbox services together into one app.

This not only includes the main Xbox app and the Game Pass app, but also features like party chat, text chat and access to game captures.

The update reads: “These updates will be available for Xbox beta members on mobile and will be coming to everyone soon.

“As part of these changes, we will no longer support new downloads of the Xbox Game Pass app, starting in November.”

There are mixed feelings among the Xbox community about the changes coming to the Xbox mobile apps.

Some find the Xbox app already difficult to navigate and think it will only become more difficult to find what you want once the apps are integrated.

The integration of the apps also includes the removal of cloud streaming for Android users.

Following the change, both Android and iOS users will only be able to stream games from the cloud through their browsers.

On the other hand, it will be useful to only have to download one app for all of your Xbox needs, with the exception of cloud gaming.

One of the biggest changes is that not only will you be able to download games from your phone, but you can download updates as well.

The updates feature is currently only available for a handful of games, but more will apparently be added in the future.

Who is Kyle Thomas and what happened to his capybara? How teen TikTok star came to build a zoo

Kyle’s mum was charged with a crime while trying to help her son expand his menagerie

KYLE Thomas is approaching two billion likes on TikTok and has amassed over 35million followers by creating content about exotic animals.

A new BBC documentary explores the ups and downs of his efforts to build a zoo, including his mum Zena’s conviction.

Kyle Thomas started off posting a wide range of content on his TikTok page before focusing on wild animals

Who is Kyle Thomas?

Born on September 19, 2004, Kyle Thomas is originally from Kent, but is now based in Belfast, Northern Ireland.

Despite his young age, Kyle has tens of millions of online followers, particularly on TikTok — you can follow him on the platform @kylethomas.

He often shares what he’s been getting up to on his Instagram page, including showing off his pet meerkat Mylo.

In July 2022, Kyle released his first graphic novel, Guardian Of The Realm.

It tells the story of how Kyle and Mylo find themselves drawn into an extraordinary and magical alternate world filled with strange and wonderful wild creatures.

The synopsis states that it’s up to Kyle and Mylo to save the world after a dark creature finds its way through an open portal into the real world and wreaks havoc.

Rise to fame and early career

Kyle became famous by posting about a wide range of content on TikTok, attracting a huge amount of followers.

These videos ranged from comedy clips and food reviews to dance videos and lip syncs — often getting millions of views for each post.

He used Instagram to share photos of his life, including the places he’s visited all around the globe.

His following skyrocketed when he started posting content focusing on exotic animals and his own private ‘zoo’.

But his mother Zena Foord was convicted of smuggling an unlicensed capybara from Cambridgeshire into Northern Ireland in August 2023.

The capybara crime

Kyle’s mum contacted a County Antrim pet shop owner named Michael Dickinson about getting one of the animals for her son.

Dickinson arranged for one of his associates, James Hammond, to pick up a capybara and transport it from Cambridgeshire, where they can be kept as pets legally, to Northern Ireland.

In Northern Ireland capybaras are listed as dangerous animals and you need a licence to own the creatures.

Kyle named the capybara Queen Elizabeth and it became a massive hit on TikTok after he dressed it up in jewellery, tiaras and frocks.

Shortly after being taken into their family home in Lisburn the capybara unfortunately died.

Legal fallout

Ms Foord received a two-year conditional discharge from Lisburn Magistrate’s Court in June 2023 for keeping a capybara without a license between the dates of October 6 and 24, 2022.

James Hammond and Michael Dickinson were also convicted on charges related to smuggling the animal into Northern Ireland.

Outcry

Investigations and concerns about animal welfare were triggered the death of the capybara and other animals.

The TikToker’s controversial zoo for exotic animals was reportedly closed and the land was subsequently sold, according to his mother.

Ms Foord told Belfast Live: “He has done absolutely nothing wrong.

“I’ve had to move every single f****** animal from here because people were killing them and poisoning them.”

Debates about the ethics of keeping exotic pets and the influence of social media on the exotic pet trade were sparked by the incident.

It also raised questions about influencers‘ responsibilities and the regulation of exotic animals being kept as pets.

Kyle’s BBC docs

The Exotic Pet Crisis: Truth Behind the TikTok Stars was the first documentary featuring Kyle and his mum.

It was originally broadcast on BBC Three and BBC iPlayer on September 25, 2023.

Presented by Mobeen Azhar, the show explores the controversial world of exotic pet ownership, as well as its promotion on social media platforms.

The second doc starring the TikToker and his mum is called We Built a Zoo.

It follows Kyle’s journey as he attempts to build a zoo for his exotic animals, addresses his controversial past — including posts about his animals that drew criticism from animal rights activists.

The programme documents the challenges he faced in finding suitable homes for the animals following his previous zoo’s closure, and his collaboration with Co Tyrone Builder Phil Hughes to transform a modest petting farm into a world-class wildlife park for Kyle’s animals and other unwanted exotic pets.

It also follows the social media star as he travels to South Africa to learn how to take better care of his meerkats.

The doc was first shown on BBC Three and BBC Northern Ireland on August 2, 2024.

A LITTLE HISTORY

Salt Life was founded in 2003 in Florida and began as a graphic decal, it then grew into a brand passionate about the ocean and saltwater sports.

The brand’s apparel includes offshore fishing and surfing gear, diving, and paddleboarding.

Products were designed to withstand the harsh conditions of the sea while combining function with fashion.

It later expanded to swimwear, sunglasses, bags, and accessories.

Salt Life even branched out into restaurants and beer.

However, its parent company began struggling financially which ultimately forced the company to scale back operations.

How does bankruptcy work?

Bankruptcy is a specific legal process that helps companies eliminate debt they can't repay.

The process allows businesses to start fresh and gain access to new credit.

Supervised by federal courts, bankruptcies allow a company to sell off its assets more easily to pay off creditors, according to Investopedia.

Chapter 11, a common process for companies, is used to restructure a business with the goal of remaining open – even if it means selling off most of the company’s properties.

Chapter 7, on the other hand, sells all of a company’s assets, putting it out of business.

Chapter 15, alternatively, allows for collaboration between American and foreign courts to conduct bankruptcy proceedings with “parties of interest involving more than one country,” per the United States Courts.

Bankruptcy documents reveal the main source of conflict was declining liquidity and demand.

The U.S. Sun has also reported on various store closures.

For example, Kmart will close down its last full-sized store in just weeks.

Plus, Bob’s Stores also filed for bankruptcy and led to multiple closures.

Travis Kelce spotted ‘celebrating’ as Patrick Mahomes gets intercepted by Falcons rival in Chiefs game in huge mistake

NFL fans have spotted an embarrassing moment by Travis Kelce during the Chiefs’ win over the Falcons.

Kansas City moved to 3-0 with their 22-17 win over the Atlanta Falcons, but fans were more focused on Kelce’s error during the game.

Kelce celebrated what he thought was a touchdown, but the play turned out differently[/caption]

In the first quarter of the game, the Chiefs drove down to the Red Zone with a chance to score.

After snapping the ball, Patrick Mahomes looked toward the end zone and fired a pass towards tight end Noah Gray.

Kelce, who was a few yards away from Gray as the pass came in, turned around and pointed to the sky in celebration as he anticipated a touchdown pass.

However, the ball never made it to Gray’s hands, as Falcons safety Justin Simmons jumped the route and intercepted the ball.

Kelce turned around to face the end zone after the interception, and threw his hands out in disbelief after seeing that Gray didn’t have the ball.

The interception wasn’t too consequential toward the game’s result, as the Chiefs still won, but that didn’t stop fans from clowning Kelce for the awkward moment.

“This makes me unbelievably happy lol,” one fan said.

“Lol, he tried to pull a Curry,” another fan said.

“I cannot wait for the downfall,” a third fan said.

“So washed,” a fourth fan said.

“Lmaoo kelce such a clown,” a fifth fan said.

The awkward moment kind of sums up how Kelce’s season is going so far.

It has been a struggle for him to do anything right, only pulling in eight catches for 69 yards this season.

Kelce has yet to score a touchdown, with his best performance being a 34-yard day in Week 1.

He isn’t too worried about his individual stats though, and is more focused on the Chiefs winning games.

“I’ve had a lot of catches in this league, man,” Kelce said.

“I’m not worried about the catches and the yards, and all of that. I have the most fun when I get the ball thrown my way, I mean, who doesn’t?

“It has everything to do with execution and just making sure we’re doing everything we can to win these football games. That’s always going to be the goal.

“I think everyone saw my drop in the fourth quarter and the crucial third down, just trying to do too much before putting the ball away.”

The tight end’s struggles aren’t entirely his fault though. Mahomes is also off to one of the slower starts of his career, posting a career-low 219.7 yards per game.

The Chiefs quarterback has only thrown five touchdowns and has four interceptions to go with it.

Despite the struggles, the Chiefs are still 3-0 and on top of the NFL once again.
