Insiders said Nick, 62, had been given the week off by BBC bosses who hope he can recover.

But he was cleared to dance this afternoon and will now perform alongside pro partner Luba Mushtuk.

Nick spent Tuesday meeting with doctors and discussing the extent of his injury.

A source said: “Nick will miss this weekend’s show to recover.

“He is elated that he is being given another chance at getting back on the dancefloor and is focused on his recovery.

“Nick is in the best hands and will be focussed on getting better before going back into rehearsals.

“He has absolutely loved the Strictly experience so far so knowing he is still part of the show makes him feel incredibly happy.”

The Sun told how Nick had been forced to have an emergency MRI scan on his arm after injuring himself while changing a tyre.

It happened the day after his first live performance with his pro dancer Luba.

The dad-of-two is now being supported by his fiancée Katie Dadzie who has been by his side during meetings with doctors.

Insiders said Nick’s fellow contestants had sent him messages of support.

They added: “The cast are all behind Nick and have been sending him messages.

“Wynne Evans has been trying to keep his spirits up and Nick will be watching this weekend.”

SHOW GOES ON

Nick and Luba are due to perform an American Smooth to Blur‘s Parklife on Saturday.

They appeared on Strictly spin off show It Takes Two on Monday night and Luba said she was sure they could work around Nick’s injury.

“And we still have a perfect position on his right arm, and we’ve got to do perfect footwork.

“We might even do a lift on (his right) arm. So I think I’ll work around it. I’ll make it work.”

Harry Redknapp, 77, tipped for stunning return to football as Premier League cult hero says ‘the game needs him’

HARRY REDKNAPP has been told “Football needs you back” – at 77.

The former Tottenham, Portsmouth and West Ham chief was sacked from his last job, as Birmingham boss, in October 2017.

But ex-Spurs and Pompey midfielder Pedro Mendes believes Redknapp offers “something different” from other managers.

The former Southampton and QPR boss, who never got the England job he craved, has found fame away from the sport in the past seven years.

Redknapp won I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here – sparking a string of TV appearances.

But Mendes reckons the 2018 King of the Jungle deserves to come out of the wilderness and reign at another top club.

The former Portugal star told Gambling.com: “I think there should always be a place for a guy like Harry Redknapp in the game.

“Everything around Harry is different. The way he trains, the way he speaks, the way his relationship is with the players.

“Harry has been out of the game for a while now, and I think he should be back.

“The game needs him, you know. He just brings something different.”

FOOTBALL FREE BETS AND SIGN UP DEALS

Redknapp mainly played for West Ham and Bournemouth in his 17-year career on the pitch.

He then launched 34 years in management with long spells at both those teams.

Redknapp bossed the Cherries from 1983-1992, winning the Associate Members Cup.

He then took charge of the Hammers until 2001, guiding them to Intertoto Cup success in 1991.

But his main claim to silverware was at his next job.

He took Portsmouth into the top flight as second-tier champions in 2003 and FA Cup glory followed five years later.

That aside, Redknapp’s peak managerial achievement was notching successive finishes of fourth, fifth and fourth at Spurs from 2008-2012.

Mendes said: “When Harry’s not upset, and he’s not looking for the players to run kilometres and build stamina, he just loves when a player does a trick and scores a fantastic goal, or does something different.”

The 45-year-old singled out ex-Portsmouth playmakers Niko Kranjcar and Andres) D’Alessandro as stylists who Redknapp got the best out of.

Now Mendes reckons it’s time his old gaffer got a chance to help a new generation of exciting players reach their Pomp.

Couple hauled off EasyJet flight for performing SEX ACT under coats minutes after takeoff next to horrified passengers

A RANDY couple were hauled from an easyJet flight by cops when they performed a sex act minutes after takeoff, a court heard.

Lovebirds Bradley Smith and Antonia Sullivan were caught red-handed trying to join the mile-high club while returning from a holiday in sunny Tenerife, Spain.

The couple were flying back to Bristol on March 3[/caption]

The couple were flying back to Bristol on March 3 aboard a packed 7am easyJet flight – with Smith, 22, sat in seat 16A and Sullivan, 20, in 16B.

Shortly after the plane launched into the sky, unemployed Smith was heard asking his girlfriend to “w**k me off” before his girlfriend covered his lap with several coats.

The couple’s exploits were witnessed by three disgusted passengers – including their unlucky neighbour in 16C – who called time on the in-flight friskiness and reported them to cabin crew.

Prosecutor Maree Doyle told Bristol magistrates’ court: “After a few minutes the witness was aware that the couple had re-arranged some coats over Smith’s lap and there followed vigorous hand movements beneath the coat.

“The witness sitting next to them could see what was happening while a mother and teenage daughter sitting behind the couple could also see what was going on.”

Ms Doyle added the teen told her mother “I can see his bits” – prompting the furious parent to also complain.

Sullivan insisted to flight attendants that she was only rubbing Smith’s leg.

But they were escorted from the plane to the tarmac by an easyJet manager and cops, who took them in for a criminal probe.

Today, both pleaded guilty to one count of outraging public decency by committing a sexual act in a public place.

Sentencing the couple, Judge Lynne Matthews said: “You had no regard for the feelings of other passengers.

“There was a child sitting behind you who was able to see what was happening.

“Who do you think you are and what right do you think entitled you to behave in that way in full view of people on that flight?”

Smith was ordered to complete 300 hours of community work and Sullivan, a full-time care worker, got 270 hours.

The couple, of Rhondda Cynon Taf, Wales, were both ordered to pay £100 compensation to each of the three witnesses.

Last year we told how holidaymaker Piers Sawyer was caught on camera romping with a girl he had only just met on an easyJet flight from Luton to Ibiza.

A viral clip of him and the unnamed woman having sex in the loo at 33,000ft was viewed millions of times after a steward swung opened the door.

But Piers, 23, who was banned by easyJet for the off-limits bonking, later revealed: “I didn’t even get her number.”

Must-have phones for Christmas 2024 and two aren’t iPhones – but the best pick is a new gadget that’s so much cheaper

CHRISTMAS is nearly upon us – and it’s the time of year when you might be thinking about buying a new phone.

Maybe it’s for yourself because you’re due an upgrade and want a good deal or new model – or maybe you’re playing Santa and want to dish out the goodies to family.

The new iPhone 16 is spectacular, but it’s not the only supercharged smartphone option hoping for a spot under your Christmas tree[/caption]

Whatever the case, The Sun has spoken to a top mobile phone expert to find out what 2024’s must-have models are going to be.

Unsurprisingly, Apple‘s posh new iPhone 16 made the list.

But two other gadgets were also recommended by Paolo Pescatore, a tech industry expert from PP Foresight.

“Undoubtedly iPhone will be extremely popular with the new line generating interest already, despite all the concerns of lacklustre demand,” Paolo told The Sun.

“In the run up to the key holiday season we will see numerous offers from Samsung starting with Black Friday.

“Attractive punchy bundles with a free gifts will be prevalent.

“The new Flip is resonating strongly with users given its unique form factor. A must have across a broader demographic.

Google is steadily increasing its presence and is starting to be sought after given its novel features. For this reason, the new Pixel 9 will generate interest.

“However, nothing beats a new iPhone given the emotional attachment and loyalty users have with the device.”

Here’s a quick guide to each of the phones that Paolo is talking about…

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6

Flip phones are back! Yes, really – and they’re much better than that thing you were wielding in 2002.

The new Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 has two screens, folds down into a compact size, and sports a sharp 50-megapixel snapper.

It’s packed with AI features, including the ability to live-translate conversations – with your language on one screen and another person’s on the other.

And Samsung reckons you’ll get 23 hours of video playback on a single charge.

The price for such a hi-tech mobile? It’s £1,049 in the UK and $1,099 in the US.

Google Pixel 9

Next up is the Google Pixel 9, which is what Android is made for – literally.

Google decided that if it’s making phone software for billions of devices, it might as well be building handsets for it too.

Now we’ve had a load of Made by Google phones and the Pixel 9 is the latest.

Google

It comes in various sizes and colours, but all of them come with built-in Google Gemini AI, magical photo-editing features, and a guaranteed seven years of updates – nothing to sniff at.

Google’s swanky AI blower will cost you £799 in the UK and $799 in the US.

iPhone 16

Last but clearly not least is the iPhone 16, which is Apple’s latest model for the year.

It’s got a new Camera Control button that makes the phone feel more like a proper camera.

Screenshot
The new iPhone is stylish, powerful, and brimming with AI potential
Apple

There’s also a long list of features coming to it as part of Apple Intelligence, including the ability to create custom emoji.

The camera is epic, but the real perk is the massive battery life.

Apple’s base iPhone 16 manages around 22 hours of video playback – but the top iPhone 16 Pro Max model raises that to 33 hours.

And like Google’s mobile, the iPhone 16 starts at £799 in the UK and $799 in the US.

FORGET PHONES – BUY THIS FOR CHRISTMAS INSTEAD

Here’s a top Christmas tip for stuffing your stocking this year from The Sun’s tech expert Sean Keach

Phones are great, sure. But you’ve almost certainly got one already, and it’s probably just fine.

So instead, choose a gift from the future: a mixed-reality headset.

Yes that might sound bonkers and expensive, but it doesn’t have to be.

Mark Zuckerberg has just unveiled the new Meta Quest 3S, which is a pair of sci-fi goggles that costs £289 in the UK and $299 in the US.

That’s less than most consoles, and far cheaper than the upcoming PS5 Pro (that’ll set you – or Santa – back £699 / $699)!

It gets you access to Mark Zuckerberg’s Horizon metaverse worlds, virtual reality games, can put a personal trainer right in your living room, and teleport you to faraway places.

And for that price, it feels close to stealing. This is a fun-for-all-the-family gadget that’s perfect for playing with on Christmas Day and beyond.

If you really are in a toss-up between this and a new iPhone, consider just getting a battery upgrade on your old mobile.

It usually costs less than £100 / $100 at the Apple Store, and it’ll give your handset like-new battery life and boost its performance too.

Then you can splash that upgrade money on a posh pair of Meta goggles and pretend you’re living in the year 2060.
