Teabag shortage fears sees Brits scramble for bags after strike at Tetley’s factory sparks surge in sales

BRITS have been scrambling for tea bags after strikes at Tetley’s factory sparked fears of a shortage.

After last week’s news of a potential tea drought, thousands rushed to supermarkets to secure their beloved cuppa.

On Thursday alone, Tetley’s original bag sales shot up by 100 per cent compared to the previous day in Iceland supermarkets[/caption]

The alarm was triggered when almost 150 GMB members working at Tata Consumer Products, which makes Tetley Tea in Teesside, announced they would lay down tools in anger at “poverty pay” on Friday and Monday.

The factory is Tetley’s biggest in the world, and it supplies 30 percent of the UK’s tea.

As panic-buying kicked in, Iceland Foods and The Food Warehouse supermarkets reported a dramatic surge in sales.

On Thursday alone, Tetley’s original bag sales shot up by 100 per cent compared to the previous day.

And over the following four days, sales of Tetley’s tea, decaf, peppermint, and green tea bags spiked by 250 per cent compared to the previous week.

More than a million tea bags were sold, driven by offers on peppermint and green tea, according to the supermarket chain.

An Iceland spokesperson said: “Britain loves a brew and the threat of a tea shortage sparked some small panic amongst shoppers over the past four days.

“As soon as the news broke that there could be a tea shortage, our customers immediately made sure they were fully stocked, just in case stock levels drop.”

They also reassured shoppers they have enough stock for Britain’s brews, adding: “Fear not tea drinkers, despite the rush, we still have enough tea bags in stock to keep Britain’s thirst quenched. Whether it’s Tetley’s, Yorkshire Tea, PG Tips or Typhoo, we have a proper brew waiting for you!”

Members of the GMB union at the Eaglescliffe factory, near Stockton, voted to take industrial action after being offered a 4.4 percent pay rise, compared to the 7 per cent they received last year.

Tata Consumer Products said: “We are disappointed with the decision to strike particularly when we have two offers on the table.

“We are not immune to the difficult economic circumstances facing families and businesses, but we do believe the pay award offers made by us to be fair.”

It is not the first time fears of a tea shortage hits Britain.

Earlier this year, Sainsbury’s cautioned shoppers in some stores that there are “nationwide” problems which could impact the availability of black tea.

But retail bosses have said the problems are “temporary” and stressed that the impact on consumers is expected to be “minimal”.

A sign in one Sainsbury’s store read: “We are experiencing supply issues affecting the nationwide supply of black tea

“We apologise for any inconvenience and hope to be back in full supply soon.”

Love Island’s Grace looks stunning as she walks the catwalk at Paris Fashion Week watched by show co-stars

LOVE Island star Grace Jackson stormed the catwalk at the Paris Fashion Week last night, as she modelled the latest collection from Ego clothing brand.

The 25-year-old model has recently been made the face of the fashion house, which was clear to see as she confidently sashayed down the runway, resplendent in a lace red dress from a collection that she designed for the label called, Dark Rosa.

Watching from the FROW was a host of other reality stars, including TOWIE’s Amber Turner and former Love Island star, Georgia Steel.

The model is enjoying her moment in the sun having been offered a huge six figure deal with the clothing brand, despite not actually making the Love Island final.

Last month, The Sun revealed how Grace had signed a whopping contract with fashion and shoe brand EGO after being inundated with offers following her stint in the villa.

A rep for Grace told The Sun: “We are so excited to announce after multiple offers Grace has signed a deal with EGO worth six figures.

“Grace has always loved EGO and the creative ideas really align with her style and personality.

“No other islander has done anything like this for a first brand deal and we know it’s going to be a huge moment for Grace.”

A spokesperson for EGO added: “We’re thrilled to have Grace on board, we knew from the beginning she was the girl for us.

“She’s bold, not afraid to push boundaries and her sense of style is exceptionally EGO.

“The alignment makes complete sense.

“It’s a very exciting time for the brand, we’ve seen unprecedented growth over the past year.

“Grace has tons to give, as do we. We’re ready to get started!”

Having worked successfully as a model before she entered the Love Island villa over the summer, Grace is represented by top agency M Models Management.

Given that she was been flooded with offers since leaving the villa, insiders predict that she could be the next Molly Mae Hague, after it was revealed that she had a meeting with retail giant, Pretty Little Thing for whom Molly was previously the spokesperson.

Previously, a source told us: “Grace has turned down work in the past if it hasn’t felt right though so she’s really picking carefully, making sure she gets the deals that really fit in and align with her.

“She’s on course to be a millionaire already and a lot of brands are calling her the next Molly-Mae.”

Grace’s turn on the Paris catwalk comes just a week after she called time on her romance with Reuven Collins.

The couple found their clashing schedules made a relationship difficult to sustain.

A source said: “Grace and Reuben have come to the mutual decision a romantic relationship isn’t right for either of them at this time.

“Grace wishes Reuben all the best and vice versa. They will remain friends and have no bad feelings towards each other.”

Best played over 350 times for the Red Devils and was voted in FIFA’s Team of the Century.

The new range draws inspiration from Man Utd‘s 1967-68 European Cup winning season.

Utd beat Benfica 4-1 in the final, with Best scoring in extra time at Wembley.

Current Utd stars Marcus Rashford, Casemiro, Mason Mount and Ethan Wheatley all modelled the new apparel.

The George Best Collection features a shirt, jogging bottoms and a zip-up top, all decked out in an iconic Utd dark blue.

Club legends Bryan Robson and Andy Cole were also in the photo shoot to launch the line, which features Manchester’s coat of arms.

And behind the camera was none other than movie star and Slow Horses actor Gary Oldman.

One fan commented on X: “The George Best collection shot on a vintage Chamonix camera by THE Gary Oldman is a pretty cool sentence to write on a rainy Friday, fair play to adidas & MUFC.”

Another said: “Belfast born, Manchester made, and now a collection that honours his greatness, George Best’s influence lives on.”

While a third added: “This collection captures George Best’s spirit perfectly! Proud to celebrate such an iconic player.”

He surprised watching fans by appearing on TNT Sports ahead of a clash against Everton in March.

Oldman won an Oscar for Best Actor in 2018 for his performance in Darkest Hour, depicting Winston Churchill.

He celebrated receiving the prestigious award in a Utd shirt, signed by Marcus Rashford.

UK’s youngest murderers since James Bulger killers, 12, are jailed after stabbing teen to death in horror machete attack

BRITAIN’S youngest murderers since James Bulger’s killers have been jailed after knifing a teen to death when they were aged just 12.

The monstrous duo ambushed 19-year-old Shawn Seesahai as he hung out with pals in Wolverhampton.

One of the killers posed up with a machete before the attack[/caption]

Chilling CCTV taken seconds before the tragedy showed Shawn chatting to a friend before entering a park.

Just moments later, Shawn was struck on his back, legs and skull with a 42.5cm-long machete – despite the fact he “offered no violence, nor done anything to offend”.

One of the boys killed him by plunging the blade so deep into his back it went through his heart and almost came out his chest.

Prosecutors argued they were jointly responsible for the attack, with the pair this year becoming the youngest-ever knife murderers to be found guilty in Britain.

The boys are also the youngest defendants in the UK to be convicted of murder in Britain since James’ killers Robert Thompson and Jon Venables, then aged 11, in 1993.

They were today sentenced to life with a minimum of eight years and six months.

Nottingham Crown Court heard Shawn had been visiting the Midlands while recovering from cataract surgery.

On November 13, he and his pals met up, while the schoolboy killers joined two girls in the park.

During the course of the day, one of the boys was seen handling the machete, which he regularly carried around with him.

Meanwhile, footage showed Shawn leaving Handsworth, in Birmingham, with two friends around 5.30pm on a tram at Winson Green station.

Later, the three of them exited at Priestfield stop in Wolverhampton and nade their way towards the park.

At around 6.30pm Shawn and one of his friends went to go to a petrol station before heading back inside.

Once there, Shawn and the pal were sat chatting on a bench when they stumbled across the killers.

One “deliberately shoulder-brushed” the teen before pulling out the blade from his trousers.

Shawn managed to shout “run” to his friend before he was hacked at with the machete as he lay defenceless on the ground.

One of the boys stabbed him so savagely a “piece of bone had actually come away” from his skull, the court heard.

As he repeatedly knifed Shawn, the other killer was seen punching and stamping on his head.

Michelle Heeley KC, prosecuting, said: “These two boys engaged in a joint attack upon a man who had done nothing wrong, a man with no weapon, who was utterly defenceless on the ground.”

Following the horror, both boys sought to blame each other for the attack as they desperately covered their tracks.

They also claimed they had been playing video games in the hours after the killing.

But police raided both their homes and discovered the machete under one of their beds.

Pictures released by cops show the machete, as well as long knives on top of another bed.

They also discovered screenshots of knives on their phones and chilling web searches, including “how many criminal records can you have to leave the country”.

One of the thugs had even posed with the machete hours before the killing.

Shawn's family speak of torment

The teen’s loved ones said: “We are devastated as a family, totally heartbroken and confused.

“None of us have had an unbroken night’s sleep since Shawn was taken from us. Every time I close my eyes, all I can think about are what his last moments were and how scared he must have been.

“It continually breaks my heart.

“The impact on us as a family is devastating. It’s hard to believe that we will ever come to terms with what has happened.

“Shawn was a very loving child to us. He was very helpful and hardworking. He loved to help out with dad in construction and loved to help with the household chores. He was a humble person and his personality was unique.”

This boy was described in court as having been “groomed, exploited and trafficked by older youths and young men in the wider community who encouraged him towards the possession of knives”.

The court heard he had “experienced significant trauma in his life” and came from a deprived home with family members who had also offended.

At the time of the horror, he was under the care of his gran, who had brought his behaviour to the attention of social services on a number of occasions.

But she only had “intermittent contact” with support workers, the court heard.

The boy’s co-killer had also experienced significant disruption in his home life but there was no evidence he carried a knife.

Mrs Justice Tipples ruled both boys could not be identified despite the murder conviction due to welfare concerns.

You don’t need to risk your life for the perfect bum – my 3-part workout will have you looking like Kim K in no time

BRAZILLIAN Butt Lifts (BBLs) are becoming increasingly popular across the UK, as Brits strive to have the perfect derriere.

However, the procedure can be incredibly dangerous, and even fatal, in the tragic case of mum-of-five Alice Webb, who died from the procedure on Monday.

Mum of five Alice Webb tragically died from a BBL on Monday[/caption]

Jordan James Parke, a TV star who calls himself the Lip King has been arrested over the death, which occurred after the 33-year-old suffered complications from the surgery at a clinic in Gloucester.

Alice is the 28th person Brit in the last few years to have died from the surgery, leading experts to say that the UK is facing a botched BBL crisis.

However, there are plenty of natural ways to have a behind as sensational as Kim Kardashian‘s.

Fitness fanatic Treasure (@thetreasureshow) took to TikTok to reveal how you can get a “natural BBL” with a simple three part workout routine.

Showing off her impressive physique, the fitness influencer revealed that to achieve her look, she trains her lower body three times a week.

“Tips on how to start getting BBL allegations”, she joked.

This is through exercises like weighted squats, lunges, and deadlifts.

The fitness pro added that she also trains her upper body three times a week, focusing on her shoulders and back.

You can do this through exercises such as lateral raises, bent over rows and reverse flyes.

The final step to Treasure’s routine is to maintain a consistent cardio routine.

This can be through running on a treadmill, or in the park or trying out a spin class at your local gym.

Treasure also advised eating a lot of protein, as this is crucial for muscle growth.

Protein contains amino acids which are used to stimulate the growth of myofibrils, which are the filaments that make up muscles.

According to the NHS, the recommended amount of protein to build muscle is 1.2–1.7 grams per kilogram of body weight per day.

Treasure’s video, has likely left many people impressed, as it has racked up over 154,000 views on the video sharing platform.

TikTok users raced to the video’s comments section to share their thoughts on her workout routine.

One person said: “This is exactly how I do it!”

Another person said: “I’m going to start doing this!”

A third person said: “Goals”

A fourth said: “Amazing!”
