Watch moment Israeli fighter jets eviscerate terror squads & launchers after 10-rocket Hezbollah barrage

THIS is the moment Israeli fighter jets eviscerate terror squads and launchers after a 10-rocket Hezbollah barrage wounded a civilian.

Fears are heightening that southern Lebanon could become a “death zone” after Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu vowed to double-down on the terror group with “full force”.

Footage posted to social media by the IDF shows an unbelievable explosion that results in a ring of fire extending across the bombed landscape.

It then turns into a cosmic fireball that fills the sky.

Another clip shows an aerial point-of-view where Hezbollah’s launchers are blown to smithereens.

Other footage shows rubble and debris flying as the group’s bases continue to be wiped out in southern Lebanon.

The IDF claim in their post on X that Hezbollah’s “military infrastructures, military buildings and terrorist squads” were attacked.

The strikes are in response to Hezbollah firing 10 rockets at Tiberias and other towns near the Sea of Galilee earlier today which resulted in a man being wounded.

The 25-year-old was reportedly hit by falling shrapnel following an interception, The Times of Israel reports.

Israel’s military say most of the rockets were intercepted by air defences.

Yesterday a top Hezbollah chief was eliminated in another airstrike blitz.

After landing in New York and amid talk of a ceasefire, PM Netanyahu backed up his military commander saying the assassination was part of the policy to “keep striking Hezbollah until we accomplish all of our goals”.

Ongoing diplomatic talks to bring a halt to the war have been desperately ongoing as the UK joined the US, France and a host of allies to call for an immediate temporary ceasefire.

The nations called for a 21-day ceasefire “to provide space for diplomacy towards the conclusion of a diplomatic settlement”, as well as a ceasefire in Gaza between Hamas and Israel.

A statement said: “The situation between Lebanon and Israel since October 8th, 2023 is intolerable and presents an unacceptable risk of a broader regional escalation.

“This is in nobody’s interest, neither of the people of Israel nor of the people of Lebanon.

“It is time to conclude a diplomatic settlement that enables civilians on both sides of the border to return to their homes in safety.

“Diplomacy however cannot succeed amid an escalation of this conflict.”

The statement also called for the governments of Lebanon and Israel to “endorse the temporary ceasefire immediately and to give a real chance to a diplomatic settlement”.

But, following hours of silence, Netanyahu clarified that “full force” fighting would continue and reports of a ceasefire were “incorrect”, YNet reports.

U.S Defence Secretary Lloyd Austin said on Thursday that there was a risk of an “all-out war” between Hezbollah and Israel – but added that a diplomatic solution was still feasible.

After meeting with his British and Australian counterparts in London, he said: “We now face the risk of an all-out war. Another full-scale war [could] be devastating for both Israel and Lebanon.

“So let me be clear, Israel and Lebanon can choose a different path, despite the sharp escalation in recent days, a diplomatic solution is still viable.”

All-out war in the Middle East seemed all but inevitable Wednesday night as Israel‘s army chief told his forces to gear up for a land offensive across the border.

Western allies were scrambling to broker a temporary ceasefire between Hezbollah and Israel – branding the escalation of violence “intolerable”.

But truce plans went out the window when Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz rejected all proposals for a ceasefire with Hezbollah.

In a statement on X he said: “There will be no ceasefire in the north.

“We will continue to fight against the Hezbollah terrorist organization with all our strength until victory and the safe return of the residents of the north to their homes.”

Hundreds of people have been killed this week alone with half a million forced to flee their homes.

It comes as Israel continues to pummel areas of southern Lebanon used by Hezbollah with airstrikes.

Thousands of Brits remain in the country and the military is on standby to evacuate them if Israel does invade.

A pause on hostilities was meant begin in just “hours”, the Telegraph reported earlier today.

Western leaders have been trying to stop the fighting for weeks, with US President Joe Biden saying he fears it would lead to “all-out war”.

Overnight, Lebanon said at least 23 Syrians, most of them women and children, were killed when Israel hit a three-story building in the country.

Another 13 people were also killed and 11 injured in other airstrikes with Israel saying it hit 75 Hezbollah targets in the country.

Around 80,000 Israelis have fled the area after regularly being bombarded by Hezbollah’s rockets following the October 7 terror attack.

Israel’s Channel 12 reported that any deal could include a ceasefire in Gaza, with IDF troops remaining in the strip but not invading Lebanon.

Hezbollah troops would also have to withdraw from the southern Lebanese border, the report claims.

Latest UK government estimates are that there are up to 6,000 British citizens still in Lebanon.

Sir Keir Starmer last night paved the way for troops to launch an evacuation mission if commercial flights stop.

At the United Nations yesterday he called for an immediate ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah.

Pressed last night on the escalating conflict, the PM said: “I’m not going to get into the details of evacuation plans.

“As you would expect, we put contingency measures in place. But here in New York, in the UN General Assembly, I’m being very, very clear this is a dangerous situation now and all parties need to pull back from the brink, to de-escalate.

“We need a ceasefire and this needs to be sorted out by diplomatic means. Very, very clear messaging on that, very firm messaging on that along with key allies.

“But I am very concerned about the increasing escalation which is not just day on day, but almost hour on hour at the moment.”

The IDF's Analysis of Hezbollah

by Juliana Cruz Lima, Foreign News Reporter

AN analysis by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said that Hezbollah, under the leadership of Hassan Nasrallah, has evolved into a well-armed terrorist organisation, presenting a significant threat to Israeli security.

With strong backing from Iran, Hezbollah’s military capabilities and strategic positioning in Lebanon continue to shape the region’s security dynamics.

Military Strength and Sophisticated Armaments: The IDF assesses that Hezbollah maintains a robust military force with 20,000-25,000 full-time fighters, supported by tens of thousands of reserves.

The organisation’s elite Radwan Unit, trained and equipped by Iran’s Quds Force, is noted for its expertise in conducting operations against Israel, including potential incursions into Israeli territory.

Hezbollah’s vast arsenal consists of over 150,000 rockets and missiles, making it one of the most heavily armed non-state actors globally.

Its weaponry, including Iranian-made Fajr-5 and Zelzal-2 rockets, has the capability to strike deep into Israeli territory, posing a direct and immediate threat.

Advanced Warfare Capabilities: The IDF highlights Hezbollah’s advancements in modern warfare, facilitated by Iranian support.

This includes access to advanced anti-ship missiles, anti-tank weapons, and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).

Hezbollah’s ability to target Israeli naval assets was demonstrated during the 2006 conflict, where it effectively used anti-ship missiles.

The organisation’s UAV capabilities, with ranges up to 400 km, are seen as a growing threat to Israeli airspace and ground operations.

Hassan Nasrallah’s Leadership and Strategy: The IDF acknowledges that Nasrallah has been central to Hezbollah’s development from a militia into a hybrid political-military organization.

Since taking leadership in 1992, Nasrallah has focused on expanding Hezbollah’s rocket arsenal and enhancing its military capabilities.

His extremist ideology, particularly his anti-Semitic rhetoric, reinforces Hezbollah’s hostility towards Israel, while his leadership from hiding underlines the constant threat he poses despite his physical absence from public life.

Major Hezbollah Attacks: Hezbollah has been involved in numerous high-profile terrorist attacks, many of which have targeted Israel and Western interests.

The IDF emphasises that, until 9/11, Hezbollah was responsible for more American deaths than any other terrorist organisation.

It is widely recognised as a global terrorist entity by many nations, including the U.S., the UK, Canada, and Israel.

Hezbollah’s Role in Lebanon’s Crisis: Lebanon’s ongoing economic collapse and political instability have created an environment in which Hezbollah wields disproportionate power.

The IDF warns that Hezbollah’s control and influence over Lebanon’s institutions and its military activities continue to threaten regional stability.

Israel-Hezbollah Conflict: The IDF provides a detailed account of Hezbollah’s ongoing military engagement with Israel, most notably during the 2006 Second Lebanon War.

The conflict, sparked by a Hezbollah attack on Israeli soldiers, resulted in the deaths of hundreds of Hezbollah fighters and significant destruction in Lebanon.

Despite this, Hezbollah has since rebuilt its forces and amassed a larger, more sophisticated arsenal, positioning itself as perhaps the most formidable terrorist organisation in the world.

Conclusion: The IDF concludes that Hezbollah, under Nasrallah’s leadership and backed by Iran, represents a major threat to regional security.

Its advanced military capabilities, particularly its extensive rocket and missile arsenal, coupled with its ideological commitment to attacking Israel, make it a key destabilising force in the Middle East.

As Lebanon faces severe internal challenges, Hezbollah’s role will likely continue to influence the region’s security landscape.

Watch Tommy Fury ‘break every part of his leg’ after being kicked ELEVEN times by UFC legend Tom Aspinall

TOMMY FURY joked he “broke every part of his leg” after being kicked 11 times by UFC champion Tom Aspinall.

The Love Island star and boxer appeared in the mixed martial artist’s latest YouTube video.

The UFC champion unleashed 11 leg kicks on Fury in a dead leg challenge[/caption]

Fury took on Aspinall’s dead leg challenge by taking a series of leg kicks at increasing levels of power and strength.

Starting without padding or shin guards for protection, Fury took Aspinall’s leg kick at 10 per cent power.

Aspinall is the current UFC interim heavyweight champion after successfully defending his belt at UFC 304 in July.

The English fighter secured a 60-second knockout victory over Curtis Blaydes to avenge his only loss in the promotion.

He suffered a knee injury just 15 seconds into their previous meeting two years prior which left him unable to continue.

That injury is now well behind Aspinall, though, as he showed with his leg kicks on Fury.

After his fourth effort at 40 per cent strength, Fury was left wincing as he limped away holding his thigh, quipping: “He’s broke every inch of my leg.”

He was able to psych himself up for the next stage before joking: “Who the hell wakes up on a Monday morning and thinks ‘do you know what I’m going to go and do this.’”

Fury continued to 60 per cent, when he admitted: “Oh he’s broke my leg. Oh it’s broke,” after another crushing blow.

Aspinall added that the unbeaten cruiserweight had set a new personal best in the challenge before topping the leaderboard by taking a kick at 65 per cent power.

The pair continued with a few more kicks with Fury holding a pad over his legs and Aspinall wearing a shin guard.

However, he removed it for the final kick at 90 per cent power, prompting Fury to say: “That’s enough, no more,” before falling to the floor in agony.

Fury’s appearance in the video comes after he was spotted at last weekend’s fight between Anthony Joshua and Daniel Dubois.

The 25-year-old was booed by the crowd as he appeared on the big screen at Wembley Stadium.

It comes after his split from Molly-Mae Hague after five years together.

The couple confirmed they had ended their relationship last month, having first met on Love Island in 2019.

Fury is currently unbeaten as a professional at 10-0 but has not fought since beating KSI in October 2023.

Meanwhile, Aspinall’s MMA record stands at 15-3 following his win over Blaydes earlier this year.

His next appearance in the octagon has yet to be confirmed, though, as he awaits the outcome of November’s title bout between Jon Jones and Stipe Miocic at UFC 309.

Do you have ‘autumn sneezing syndrome, the new Covid XEC strain or the 100-day-cough? All the symptoms you must know

IT’S that time of year again when everyone seems to be coughing, sneezing and blowing into tissues.

Before the pandemic, this was never much of an issue – but now, so much as a splutter can lead to raised eyebrows on the train and looks of concern from people in the office.

Is your runny nose caused by hay fever, Covid or whooping cough? Here’s how to find out[/caption]

Is it the new Covid variant? A dose of the 100-day-cough? Or is it a side effect of the changing seasons?

‘Autumn sneezing syndrome’, as it’s otherwise called, can leave sufferers with sneezing fits and runny noses, which can be easily mistaken for winter bugs.

“Most people don’t associate autumn with pollen, so they might not realise their symptoms this time of year could actually be hay fever,” Dr Adrian Morris, principal allergist at Surrey Allergy Clinic, tells the Sun.

Hay fever – also known as seasonal allergic rhinitis – is an allergic reaction to pollen and other airborne allergens such as fungal spores.

Autumnal hay fever isn’t triggered by tree or grass pollen, which peaks in spring and summer, but by pollen from an invasive plant called ragweed.

Most people who are allergic to other types of pollen also have a sensitivity to ragweed, which has only recently become established in the UK after travelling from the US.

The weed sheds pollen well into October, later than most plants.

Mould spores often become a concern in autumn, typically found in decomposing leaves and blown into the air.

The colder weather sends lots of us indoors, which puts many of us at risk of indoor allergens, like dust, Dr Adrian said.

“When we go inside we close our doors and windows, trapping us inside with pets and dust mites, then when we head outside we’re immediately exposed to mould and ragweed,” he explained.

“It’s a very bad time of year for some people,” he added.

How to spot and deal with it

Allergies, Covid and whooping cough can cause a combination of coughing, sneezing and a runny nose.

But allergies tend to cause itchiness around your eyes and in the throat, while Covid and whooping cough may cause a sore throat but not itchiness.

You may also notice that your eyes are particularly watery.

And while Covid typically lasts about two weeks, hay fever, similar to whooping cough, can persist for weeks or even months, depending on the pollen count.

The higher the pollen count, the worse the symptoms will be.

If you have asthma, your asthma symptoms may also get worse when you have hay fever.

There is currently no cure for hay fever, but most people can relieve symptoms with treatment, according to the NHS.

This can include antihistamines, staying hydrated, and using saline nasal sprays.

You can also try applying cold compresses to reduce swelling and minimise exposure to allergens.

Covid?

While Covid isn’t as prominent as it was this time a few years ago, a new potentially more contagious variant has led to a rise in cases over the past few weeks.

Millions have already had the bug and the majority of Brits also have protection due to the huge vaccine rollout.

Scientists have sounded the alarm over a new, more contagious Covid variant called XEC, which is spreading across several European countries.

Though the bug is not likely to be as deadly as some of its predecessors, experts warned that the XEC variant is shaping up to be the “next big challenge” for hospitals.

“At this juncture, the XEC variant appears to be the most likely one to get legs next,” Dr Eric Topol, director of the Scripps Research Translational Institute in California, wrote in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter.

He said it may take “many weeks, a couple of months, before it really takes hold and starts to cause a wave”.

He added: “XEC is definitely taking charge. That does appear to be the next variant.

“But it’s months off from getting into high levels.”

How to spot and deal with it

The symptoms of the XEC variant aren’t too different from what we’ve seen with earlier strains.

This includes tirednessheadachessore throat, a high fever and a dry cough.

The loss of taste and smell – once a hallmark sign of the bug – is only reported by two to three per cent of infected Brits, according to the winter Covid report from the Office For National Statistics (ONS) in the UK.

If you are suffering from Covid, prioritise rest and hydration while using over-the-counter medications like paracetamol to relieve symptoms.

The best way to protect yourself from Covid is to get vaccinated.

Jabs have been updated to tackle recent variants, though not specifically for XEC, which evolved from earlier Omicron strains.

The NHS is offering autumn Covid boosters to the most vulnerable in October. This will include:

  • Over-64s
  • People aged between six months and 64 years with health conditions that make them more vulnerable
  • People living in care homes for older people
  • Front-line health and social care staff, including in care homes for older people

The NHS will contact eligible patients directly, but they can also book their own appointments now via the NHS App, GPs, pharmacies, drop-in clinics, external or by calling 119.

Whooping cough?

The name whooping cough might conjure up images of Victorian England.

But the bacteria infection, also known as the 100-day-cough because of how long it can persist, has been rising in the UK over the last year.

It is a super-contagious infection of the lungs as breathing tubes and can cause severe coughing fits that last for weeks.

As babies have an especially high risk of severe illness, the pertussis vaccine is offered to all pregnant women between 16 and 32 weeks to protect their babies.

But most recent figures suggest uptake is just 60 per cent.

The latest figures from the UK Health Security Agency show 12,200 confirmed cases between January and July 2024.

Eight infants have died of the illness since November last year.

Timeline reveals the symptoms of the '100-day cough' week-by-week
Whooping cough can persist for months
a graph showing confirmed whooping cough cases in england
Whooping cough cases have surged

How to spot and deal with it

Whooping cough symptoms usually start five to 10 days after you catch the bug.

At first, symptoms are often similar to Covid, including a fever and cough.

But after about a week, patients will get coughing bouts that last for a few minutes and are worse at night.

Young babies may also make a distinctive “whoop” or have difficulty breathing.

The cough can bring up thick mucus, which can cause people to be sick and have a hard time breathing.

Young children or babies might turn blue or grey because of difficulty breathing, while adults might become red in the face.

If you or your child’s lips, tongue, face, or skin suddenly turns blue or grey, call 999 or go to A&E immediately.

The condition spreads very easily and can sometimes cause serious problems, including rib fracturespneumonia and seizures.

By week eight, the violent cough will usually have developed into something milder.

But for some, it can last several months.

If you do have whooping cough, antibiotics can help – but only if you start taking them within three weeks of your symptoms starting, the NHS says.

Women can get the vaccine through their GP or some antenatal clinics.

All babies are also offered three doses of the six-in-one vaccine, at eight, 12 and 16 weeks of age, to protect against whooping cough and other serious diseases.

Children are then offered a pre-school booster – and any who have not been vaccinated can still get the jab up to the age of 10.

Sun Health's 14 tips to beat hay fever hell on a budget

Triggered when the immune system reacts to the allergen pollen, common hay fever symptoms include watery, itchy eyes, a tickly throat and a runny, congested nose.

Holly Shaw, a nurse adviser for charity Allergy UK, puts this down to “better diagnosis but also climate change, with warmer temperatures causing pollen seasons to start earlier and last longer”.

But if the go-to remedies of daily anti-histamine tablets, nasal sprays and balms from the chemist are not doing the trick, don’t lose hope, there are other hacks you can deploy.

From regularly showering and vacuuming the home to scoffing chocs, here are some tactics backed by experts not to be sneezed at . . .

  1. Wear wraparound sunglasses and a hat with a peak or big brim or go for a face mask
  2. On high pollen days, have a bath or shower and wash your hair. Change your clothes when you get home.
  3. Avoid mowing the lawn or raking leaves – ask someone else to step in.
  4. Try not to dry clothes or bed linen outside when the allergen count is high.
  5. Keep windows firmly closed, especially early in the morning and in the evening, when higher levels of pollen are released.
  6. Wipe down pets with a damp cloth, as they can bring pollen into the home. Also, think about keeping your dog or cat away from you if you can.
  7. Put Vaseline around your nostrils to trap particles before they can work their way up your nose.
  8. Take a few minutes each day to vacuum well, especially if you have deep-pile carpets. Hoover over upholstered furniture where particles may have spread through open window.
  9. Wipe down window panes and sills regularly.
  10. Wash your bedding once a week at a high temperature to remove any pollen that may have transferred from you and your clothes.
  11. Take vitamin D supplements. Research has shown they can regulate immune system cells that help to prevent allergic reactions.
  12. Experts say diets high in antioxidants such as broccoli, spinach, potato and carrot can help to ward off stuffy noses caused by hay fever.
  13. Dark chocolate can also help to reduce symptoms, it is said.
  14. If all else fails and you feel hay fever is ruining your life, or even causing asthma attacks, pay a visit to your doctor who could refer you to a specialist clinic

Desperate search for ‘much-loved’ missing woman, 55, who suddenly disappeared after being last seen on night out

AN URGENT search has been launched to find a missing woman after she vanished from a London nightclub.

Natasha Reddington-Romanov, 55, was last seen leaving Trisha’s in Soho, London and walking towards Bateman Street just before 2am on September 20.

Natasha Reddington-Romanov, 55, went missing in the early hours of September 20

She was wearing a white Chanel suit at the time of her disappearance.

Her friend, Tracy Kawalik, told Metro, Natasha had gone out for dinner in Chinatown before heading to Trishas, after sharing a meal and some drinks with the owner, Trish.

The alarm was raised when she failed to show up for work on Monday and hadn’t been in touch with anyone over the weekend.

Tracy said: “She left when the bar closed, around 1.45 to 2am.

“She walked towards Bateman street before we believe she turned back to get the bus, which she does all the time to go home.”

The concerned friend added how people close to Natasha are growing increasingly worried because she is trans.

She also explained how her close pal was in a normal frame of mind at the time and had made plans for the following week, with no known financial or mental health issues.

Tracy claimed the Met Police are involved and said they would be scouring CCTV from that night – but have not done so at the time of publishing.

In a heartbreaking tribute, she described Natasha as “vivacious, outspoken and glamorous”.

“It’s a nightmare. Everyone is preparing for the worst and hoping for the best. We’re just hoping we find her,” said Tracey.

Natasha had worked at Trishas for more than 10 years, and the staff have reportedly been shocked by the news.

“Everyone who’s been here has most likely had a chat with Natasha at one point. She’s very, very loved,” added Tracy.

The Sun contacted the Met Police for comment.
