Former Arsenal star Jens Lehmann ‘splits from wife’ as she finds new beau amid drink driving arrest and Oktoberfest woes

FORMER Arsenal star Jens Lehmann has split with his wife of 25 years, according to reports.

Lehmann, 54, had been with Conny since the pair tied the knot in 1999.

The yoga instructor, 52, was by his side for the entirety of his stint with Arsenal, and is the mother of his two children Mats, 24 and Lieselotta, 18.

According to German outlet Bild, the pair have split for good – having been on-off for a while.

The report adds that Conny has moved out of the family home, where Lehmann remains with their children, and has found a new partner.

Lehmann, Conny and their kids did go on holiday as a family during the summer months.

But it’s claimed that there are no longer romantic feelings between the former couple.

Both attended Oktoberfest in Munich last weekend, but not together.

Lehmann was allegedly seen enjoying himself with several younger women.

While Conny was there with friends.

In addition to Mats and Lieselotta, Conny has a child from her previous relationship with Knut Reinhardt, a former Germany international.

Lehmann went on to adopt his wife’s child from her past relationship.

The former Arsenal stopper has endured a difficult period of late.

On his way back from Oktoberfest last weekend, reports in Germany claim that he was arrested for drink driving.

It’s claimed that he was “staggering and smelled of alcohol” – and that breath tests were abandoned with Lehmann “unable to blow” – the ex-keeper instead taken to a police station for further testing.

On Friday, Lehmann was hit with a £112,000 fine after being found guilty of property damage and attempted fraud following a chainsaw attack on a neighbour’s garage.

He had initially been slapped with a 10-month suspended prison sentence and £350,000 fine following his guilty verdict last December.

But the amount was reduced by a Munich court upon appeal.

Lyle Menendez married model wife Anna Eriksson in secret wedding after she sent him a pity letter – but then he cheated

CONVICTED killer Lyle Menedez married top model Anna Eriksson in a secret “proxy wedding” from behind bars before getting divorced over his extramarital affair.

Lyle, along with brother Erik, is serving life sentences for shooting their parents to death in a sprawling Beverly Hills mansion in 1989.

Both the brothers pictured during their murder trial[/caption]

Both the brothers opened gunfire on their parents, Kitty and Jose Menendez, at point-blank range, killing them on the spot.

During their trials for the killings, the brothers claimed the shootings were in self-defense following years of abuse.

However, prosecutors argued the siblings were motivated by greed and wanted to get their hands on their parents’ fortune.

The brothers’ trials were televised on CourtTV, bringing national attention to the murders and sparking admirers of the good-looking duo to write letters of encouragement to the pair during the case.

After the highly publicized trials, both brothers were found guilty of first-degree murder and sentenced to life in prison.

But staying behind bars for the rest of their lives did not stop either of the brothers from having relationships with women.

Lyle was the first of the pair to have a relationship among the two brothers.

He began dating Anna Eriksson – a former model and salon receptionist from Chicago.

She began modelling at age 14 after posing for a Lord & Taylor ad and landed gigs all over Europe including London, Sweden, and Paris.

The couple got together after Eriksson wrote him a letter during his first trial, which ended in a mistrial.

In the pity letter, she said: “Hang tough.”

Eriksson saw Lyle on TV during his first trial where she decided to write him the letter after noticing the lack of attention Lyle was getting as opposed to his brother, Erik.

And thus began their series of exchanges through letter which eventually blossomed into a relationship.

Eriksson even moved to Los Angeles in 1994 taking on a job as a contract administrator for a record company.

During an interview with People magazine, she said: “All I can say is that we’ve connected, even though we’ve never touched.”

The pair married over the phone on July 2, 1996 – the day that the brothers were sentenced to life in prison.

The remote wedding was witnessed by Erik’s attorney, Leslie Abramson, and the brothers’ aunt.

They dubbed it a “proxy wedding”.

The wedding was later disputed as Lyle’s jailers said the marriage wasn’t valid because it happened over the phone.

“We did not recognize the wedding,” California Department of Corrections spokesperson Christine May said in 1997, according to the Los Angeles Times.

MARRIAGE FALLING APART

Eriksson and Lyle remained married for five years until a cheating scandal separated the two.

In 2001, Eriksson filed for divorce, claiming that Lyle was unfaithful to her because he exchanged letters with other women. She’s stayed out of the public eye since the divorce.

Lyle went on to start another relationship with another pen pal named Rebecca Sneed, a former magazine editor.

The Associated Press reported the pair knew each other for about 10 years before they tied the knot – meaning their relationship coincided with Lyle’s marriage to Eriksson.

Lyle and Sneed married at Mule Creek State Prison in Ione, California, in November 2003 and have stayed together since.

After the Menendez brothers lived in separate prisons for 20 years, the two were reunited when Lyle moved to the RJ Donovan Correctional Facility in San Diego, where Erik lives, in 2018.

It’s unclear if Sneed still lives in Sacramento, which is about a nine-hour drive from where Lyle is now held.

While Lyle has been married twice in prison, Erik has been committed to the same woman who became his pen pal at the beginning of the trials in 1993.

While both of the brothers are married, neither of them has consummated their marriage due to a California law prohibiting inmates serving life sentences from having conjugal visits.

Saccoman previously said that the marriage doesn’t need sex to thrive.

“Not having sex in my life is difficult, but it’s not a problem for me,” Erik’s wife said.

“I have to be physically detached, and I’m emotionally attached to Erik.”

NETFLIX DRAMA

The Menendez brothers’ case is explored in Ryan Murphy’s new Netflix drama Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story.

Saccoman, who often relays messages from her husband to the public on her social media accounts, shared that Erik disapproved of the new series.

She posted Erik’s response to the show on X on September 19.

“I believed we had moved beyond the lies and ruinous character portrayals of Lyle, creating a caricature of Lyle rooted in horrible and blatant lies rampant in the show,” the statement began.

“I can only believe they were done so on purpose. It is with a heavy heart that I say, I believe Ryan Murphy cannot be this naive and inaccurate about the facts of our lives so as to do this without bad intent.”

Murphy responded to Erik’s criticism at a red carpet-event on September 23.

“I know he hasn’t watched the show. So I find that curious,” Murphy told E! News at the series premiere of his new show Grotesquerie.

“I hope he does watch it. I think if he did watch it he would be incredibly proud of Cooper Koch who plays him,” he said.

Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story is available for streaming on Netflix now.

Cole Palmer untouchable but Robert Sanchez endures day to forget against former side

FOUR incredible first-half goals from Chelsea starboy Cole Palmer secured a 4-2 victory over Brighton at Stamford Bridge.

Palmer became the first player to score four in a first half of a single Prem match to end Brighton’s unbeaten run.

Palmer then powered in a stunning free-kick from 25 yards[/caption]

It was a game of goalkeeping howlers, high-lines, THREE offside goals and a Cold Cole Palmer free-kick.

The six-goal thriller leaves Chelsea third in the Prem, with Brighton down to eighth after their first defeat of the season.

Brighton opened the scoring after four Chelsea stars – who all left the Seagulls for West London – couldn’t clear their lines. Before Chelsea took control through the former Manchester City man.

Here SunSport’s Katherine Walsh rates every Chelsea player…

Robert Sanchez – 4

Booed by Brighton fans who were not happy to see their former keeper again.

Before bizarrely coming too far out of his box to be beaten by Georginio Rutter who headed home from 12 yards

At fault AGAIN when his shocking blundering pass out from the back directly caused Brighton’s second goal.

The ball was intercepted by Carlos Baleba after Caicedo got caught slacking by not being quick enough to control it.

Later produced a big save before half-time.

Robert Sanchez was partly to blame for both of Brighton’s first-half goals[/caption]

Malo Gusto – 6

His first start since Chelsea‘s 0-0 with Crystal Palace was hindered just 60 seconds in after asking to change his boots. Conceded some questionable free-kicks in closing stages.

Wesley Fofana – 6

Unconvincing in possession despite little pressure but performed defensive duties after Brighton’s early opener in the seventh minute.

Overhit a pass intended for Nkunku in the final five minutes. That would have set the Blues away for a dangerous counter.

Match Stats

Levi Colwill – 6

Awful clearance for Brighton’s opener as his horror attempt to get rid is headed in by Rutter who beats Sanchez to the ball.

Under pressure in the opening 20 minutes, with a half-hearted block almost going in the back of his own net.

Marc Cucurella – 6

Involved in the Brighton opener as well by being out jumped and pushed aside by Rutter.

But grew into the game in the second half, with some threatening crosses for Jackson. Thought he’d scored against his former employers, but a slight Pedro Neto deflection slowed the ball down to leave Cucurella offside.

Moises Caicedo – 5

Started the comedy of errors for Brighton’s goal after played it to Colwill who hoofs it in the air for a clearance.

He was then involved in Brighton’s second, failing to react quick enough to Sanchez’s short pass. And gave possession away far too often in the second half. Surprised he lasted longer then Fernandez.

Enzo Fernandez (c) – 7

Weak on the ball in the opening 15 minutes. Delicious ball for Palmer’s chance off the post. But settled into the game after the England winger’s second after going in the book inside 29 minutes.

Noni Madueke – 8

Moves quickly down that right hand side.

Looked to have assisted Sancho’s first Prem goal for Chelsea and the side’s second of the afternoon before it was rebuked for offside.

Stunning run and chance in the 38th minute, after a good passage of play from the back, by kneeing it down and sitting Webster down before marginally hitting past the post.

Cole Palmer – 10

Chelsea’s quadruple hero!

The England star hit the post in the 18th minute after a period of Brighton pressure. Before some brilliant runs in behind saw his next strike disallowed for offside a minute later.

But Palmer made no mistake in the 21st minute with a brilliant finish amid an extremely high Brighton line.

The turnaround was completed when he converted a penalty just five minutes later.

Palmer then Curled in a stunning 25-yard free-kick past Bart Verbruggen who could only get a fingernail to the ball.

Before some horror defending and a terrible pass out saw Palmer run through from Jadon Sancho‘s ball to score his fourth of the game. Continued to cause problems in the second half.

Jadon Sancho – 7

Was caught tormenting Brighton’s full-backs before and after his 23rd minute tap in was ruled out for offside.

But he won a nailed on penalty for Chelsea just three minutes later after brilliantly storming past Dunk and picked up his third assist of the season for Palmer’s fourth.

Sancho’s link-up play with Palmer will be a threat moving forward.

Nicolas Jackson – 7

Assisted Palmer’s opener. But largely quiet in Chelsea’s flourishing attack in the first half.

Started the second half brighter with a shot saved in the 46th minute. Headed over in 55th minute.

But a series of missed chances left Jackson visibly frustrated in the final 45… he should have passed quicker at times too.

Subs

Pedro Neto (62′ for Madueke) – 6

Continued to provide a threat to the tiring Brighton defence late on.

Mudryk (71′ for Sancho)

R Veiga (70′ for Cucurella)

Christopher Nkunku (78′ for Jackson)

R Lavia (78′ for Fernandez)

Arsenal 4 Leicester 2: Trossard and Havertz score stunning last-gasp goals to capitalise on Man City’s draw at Newcastle

WILFRED NDIDI’S unlucky own goal gave Arsenal a dramatic injury-time winner over Leicester.

Arsenal looked in total control as Gabriel Martinelli turned home on 20 minutes.

Leandro Trossard then found the net in first-half injury time as the Gunners led 2-0 at the break.

But within two minutes of the restart, Justin’s header deflected past David Raya to half the deficit.

And on 63 minutes, the right-back got Leicester level in style.

He latched on to a deep cross and leathered an emphatic volley in off the post to salvage a point – as Arsenal were pegged back to 2-2 for the second game running.

However, Trossard got on the end of a corner to the back post and fired across goal.

And the ball bounced off Ndidi’s leg and past a helpless Mads Hermansen, who had played brilliantly throughout with a string of saves.

Then there was still time for Kai Havertz to pounce and grab a fourth to seal the points.

Brentford 1 West Ham 1: Mbeumo makes Premier League history before Soucek salvages point for under pressure Lopetegui

TOMAS SOUCEK struck to take the heat off Julen Lopetegui.

But only after the Spaniard became the latest victim of Brentford’s remarkable first minute scoring streak.

Match Stats

Soucek’s second half finish, forcing past Mark Flekken from close range, earned West Ham a deserved point as they recovered from being stung by Bryan Mbeumo’s fifth of the season as the Bees set a new Prem fast-start record.

They are the first team to score in the opening 60 seconds of three successive games.

It will have been a relief for Lopetegui, too, after his nightmare week looked set to be extended and he also lost Mohammed Kudus at the interval.

Yet while West Ham went back across the capital with a point that ensures the growing pressure on Lopetegui has abated, this was a deeply unsatisfying afternoon in pretty much every other way.

Without question, the best moment came right at the start.

Lopetegui can hardly claim he was not prepared, although Thomas Frank should bottle and sell whatever he says to sting his Bees into gear before kick-off.

After scoring inside the first half minute at both Manchester City and Spurs – going on to lose both after trailing at the break – they were again in front before many had taken their seats.

This time it took just 39 seconds for Mbeumo’s left-footed volley from 12 yards to find the top corner, a terrific hooked finish with the ball behind him and giving the fully-extended Alphonse Areola no chance.

But fingers would have been pointed once again, after West Ham failed to deal with Kevin Schade’s cross – the German was onside because of the VAR “tolerance” zone – and Fabio Carvalho reacted quicker than Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Jarrod Bowen to nod back into the middle.

Mbeumo’s reaction, though, was outstanding. He is a class act.

Never before has a Prem side scored so quickly in three straight matches.

And, of course, never before has a side scored inside the first minute of three straight games and won nine of them.

Yet after such a dramatic start, much of what followed was an anticlimax.

Lucas Paqueta was particularly quiet, with only Kudus and Bowen offering any real threat despite West Ham.

When they did get close enough, Kudus fired at Flekken before Mikhail Antonio dragged a shot wide from 16 yards after Bowen tricked his way into the danger zone.

Brentford were happy to sit deep and then counter, frequently through Mbeumo, who took one in the head from Wan-Bissaka after he had directed his effort over the top.

Kudus’ failure to reappear after the break – with Carlos Soler on as Konstantinos Mavropanos also replaced Emerson – might have added to the discontent of the Hammers fans.

Instead, West Ham were galvanised.

Wan-Bissaka switched to the left, with the defender almost getting in after a strong run opened the way towards the Brentford goal as Lopetegui’s side called the shots.

And within 10 minutes of the restart, any doubts would have disappeared as the visitors levelled.

Paqueta fed in and Bowen and Soucek played some delightful one-touch stuff before Antonio chested down and shot.

His effort was half-blocked but that served to tee up Soucek, sweeping home from five yards as he was being pulled to the ground.

Substitute Yehor Yarmoliuk, on for Schade, tested Areola from the edge of the box with his first touch as Brentford looked to respond.

Yet that was as good as it got, the game drifting into an eminently forgettable phase in which neither team had either the imagination or the desire to get the winner.

Keane Lewis-Potter’s late shot, gathered easily by Areola, summed it up. A point each. And not much else.
