My ex-boyfriend is stalking me & it’s so scary – I hide his emails but there’s a reason I sometimes read them
NETFLIX’S Baby Reindeer highlighted the dangers of stalking to the public.
One woman has shared her experience with an ex-boyfriend who she says has harassed her since their break-up.
She explained that she thinks it’s better to know what her ex is saying (stock image)[/caption]While the legitimacy of the story portrayed in Baby Reindeer is now under question, TikTok user Laura Ghiacy (@lauraghiacy) said her ex’s actions have left her “so scared.”
In her viral video, the LA-based personal trainer explained how she “deals with having a stalker.”
Laura explained how she has set up a filtration system on her emails so that any contact from him goes straight into a “dedicated folder.”
She revealed that their is usually an average of 25-30 emails delivered to the folder each month.
The TikToker described feeling “quite shaken” when her ex sets up a new account, meaning his emails reach her main inbox.
She informed her audience that she hasn’t replied to any of his emails in 13 years.
However, she explained that she still keeps all his correspondence for a safety reason.
“Sometimes I read them because my biggest fear is that I’m going to read them and he’s going to say: ‘Fun fact, I’m in the same state as you,'” Laura said.
“I don’t block, there is a part of me that is so fearful that I need his emails for evidence should anything more serious ever happen.”
She revealed that her ex has previously sent messages that have led her to believe he is travelling to her area.
Laura said that his emails have included everything from his obsession over her social media to lies that he has been drafted to the NFL.
She added that she can sometimes find the “comedic value” in the latter.
The TikTokers explained that she thinks the emails are her ex’s attempt at “gaining back control.”
On the other hand, her lack of engagement has served as her way of gaining control.
Laura’s followers shared their thoughts on the situation in the comments section.
What to do if you suspect you're being stalked
Tony Neate, CEO of Get Safe Online, tells Sun Online: “The perpetrators commonly obtain details about you via online information of personal and financial affairs, social and work life, relationships and your location.
As a starting point, ensure only the minimum information about you is available online and take stalking seriously.
Report it before it has serious effects on you and others and keep a record of all that takes place so you collate evidence whilst it is happening.

“Keep doing your best, hold tight, and stay strong. Be smart and document, document, document,” advised one viewer.
“Restraining order! Maybe being served will stop him,” suggested another TikTok user.
“That is absolutely insane! Shaking my head, I’m so sorry that the police didn’t take any action to stop this,” commented a third person.
“My advice is ignore, ignore, ignore. If you ever respond you have just made his fantasy come true,” pointed out another follower.
“Do not delete them. You will likely need the evidence one day, hopefully just for a restraining order,” said one commenter.
