Arsenal 1 Shakhtar Donetsk 0: Leandro Trossard’s blushes saved by goalkeeper own goal as Gunners back to winning ways

ARSENAL bounced back to winning ways in unconvincing fashion – thanks to a huge slice of luck.

The Gunners were desperate to put Saturday’s nightmare defeat at Bournemouth behind them as they hosted Shakhtar Donetsk at the Emirates.

But in an underwhelming performance in front of their own fans, it took a flukey own goal to see off their Ukrainian opponents.

Gabriel Martinelli’s low shot just before the half-hour mark struck the base of the post.

But the ball rebounded off the bottom of diving goalkeeper Dmytro Riznyk and dribbled over the line.

A VAR call went Arsenal’s way deep into the second half when a left-wing cross was adjudged to have been handballed.

However, Leandro Trossard stepped up and shot down the middle as Riznyk saved with his feet.

The victory came at a cost, though, as Riccardo Calafiori limped off injured.
