Andy Reid sends clear message to Travis Kelce after making official Kansas City Chiefs bench decision following key game

ANDY REID has sent a clear message to Travis Kelce and the critics of the Kansas City Chiefs superstar.

The Hall of Fame-bound tight end had been having a dreadful start to the season, with awful results on his stat line.

There had even be calls for the 34-year-old to be benched following the opening three games to the NFL season.

But he made a stunning return to form against the Chargers in Week 4, taking the Chiefs record to 4-0 on the year.

He had seven receptions at SoFi Stadium with 89 yards, more than all the previous trio of games combined.

The Chiefs went on to win the game 17-10, thanks to the tight end and an impressive defensive performance.

And head coach Reid has told Kelce how he continues to believe in his ability, despite the calls from fans and analysts to be benched.

“I really don’t care what anybody thinks, to be honest with you,” said Reid.

“I watch what the defense does and how they respect him.

“I take it off of that, and I watch Trav every day.

“I get to see him and how he works.

“He never wants out of practice, or a game.

“He’s all in all the time, so I don’t worry about all that.”

Reid also opened up on how Kelce was able to get out of his slump against the Chargers.

“They played quite a bit of zone,” added Reid.

“Kelce did a nice job of getting in windows.

‘Well-talked-about personal life’

Travis Kelce was asked about his relationship with Taylor Swift during an interview with Good Morning America.

But the Kansas City Chiefs tight end gave a cagey response.

“When you have good family and friends around you, it makes that aspect of life that much easier,” Kelce told GMA.

“I’ve always been a very grounded guy. It might not come off that way when I’m playing football.

“But off the field, I just want to be a genuine person. I try not to get too far down the road.

“Because you never know what opportunities are going to present themselves.”

“When they did play man, he was able to do a nice job there.

“There wasn’t as much double-team as he’s seen, so he did very good.

Reid was also asked if Kelce was relieved after his breakout performance of the 2024-25 season.

“You’ll have to ask him,” he said.

“He’s been all in, he’s been so positive.”

The Chiefs did suffer a huge blow in the game, with Rashee Rice set to miss the rest of the year with a feared torn ACL.
