(PAGOSA SPRINGS, Colo.) — A man and his teenage son have been arrested in connection to the murder of the boy’s mother.
According to the Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI), 43-year-old Charles Christopher Martinez and his 17-year-old son, Hevon Martinez, have both been booked on First Degree Murder Charges in the July 2 murder of 38-year-old Chrystal Snow, the mother of Hevon.
Snow was found dead of gunshot wounds in her home on the morning of July 2, soon after a 911 call was placed from her house in Pagosa Springs. Hours later, investigators were able to locate Snow’s five-year-old son Helliono Martinez safely with an aunt in Cortez.
On July 16, the Department of Human Services (DHS) obtained a court order granting the state of Colorado emergency custody of Helliono. According to the CBI, that same day is when investigators learned Helliono was last seen with his father, Charles, around 1:30 in the afternoon, and an Endangered Missing Alert was issued on July 18.
On July 25, Helliono was brought by the Martinez family to the Montezuma County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO).
Snow’s teenage son, Hevon, was already in custody on separate charges, and will be charged as an adult, the CBI said. His father was taken into custody in Cortez and booked into the Archuleta County Detention Center.
