Rulani Mokwena escorted by police after another Wydad defeat

Former Mamelodi Sundowns coach Rulani Mokwena was on Sunday escorted by police after Wydad’s defeat to RS Berkane.

Wydad suffered a 2-0 loss to Berkane which was their second in less than a week under Mokwena.

The defeat saw Wydad slip to seventh on the Botola Pro table as they have collected just 11 points in eight matches.

Now, a section of Wydad fans threw missiles onto the pitch to demonstrate their dissatisfaction.

And this continued after the game with Mokwena needing the presence of the police to get to the tunnel.

Mokwena joined Wydad earlier this year following his shock departure from Sundowns after he had won the league.

His primary mandate is to get Wydad back to the top and ensure that they return to CAF Champions League football.

Wydad are not part of this season’s CAF Champions League because they finished sixth on the log last term.

RULANI MOKWENA PLEADS WITH WYDAD FANS

“I believe in this team, I believe in our staff, I believe in our work. We will grow, and we have to experience difficult moments,” Mokwena told the media after match as per iDiski Times.

“The fans of Wydad know the situation and I know you know football a lot and you know that no coach comes, the team is in number six with new players, with the board, with the new staff and really, to be honest, I thought we will struggle more than we had.

“To arrive at match day eight and we were three points away from number one, I thought that was a very good start but today is a very disappointing result especially that we played very well and for me, that is the biggest disappointment.

“The fans deserve the better results because they were amazing, they supported us.

“I think it influenced the performance. We played well but for sure at big clubs, you have to win games.”

WILL MOKWENA SURVIVE THE CHOP?
