The Dodgers held off a late comeback attempt by the Yankees in Game 2 of the World Series on Saturday, only to see their star man Shohei Ohtani injured.

LA won 4–2 to take a 2–0 series lead after a nail-biting final inning that saw the visitors load the bases.

Alex Vesia was able to finish the game after Blake Treinen allowed an RBI to Giancarlo Stanto and hit Anthony Rizzo with a pitch, but the biggest concern now will be Ohtani’s health after the Japanese superstar suffered an apparent shoulder injury.

Ohtani left the game in the bottom of the seventh inning after trying to steal second base and was tagged out.

He walked away with the help of a trainer and grimaced in pain as he left the field.

It remains to be seen if he will be available for Game 3, which will take place on Monday in New York.

LA scored all four of their runs on home runs, while Tommy Edman, Teoscar Hernandez and Freddie Freeman all went deep.

New York, before their late push, was kept quiet by Yoshinobu Yamamoto, save for Juan Soto hitting a game-tying solo home run in the top of the third inning.

Yamamoto allowed just one hit over 6 1/3 innings, retiring his last 11 batters and 15 of his last 16 batters after Soto’s home run.

Soto also singled in the ninth and scored on Stanton’s one-out hit at third base. Jazz Chisholm Jr. singled and Rizzo was then hit by a pitch to load the bases. Treinen then struckout Anthony Volpe before Vesia tapered off.

Forty-five of the 56 teams with a 2-0 lead in the World Series have won the title.

New York’s Aaron Judge went 0 for 4 with three strikeouts and is hitting .150 with six RBIs and 19 strikeouts in 40 postseason at-bats.
