New York Giants legend Victor Cruz reveals little-known NFL Draft prospect that he’s ‘been nudging’ former team about

IF anyone is able to spot an underrated wide receiver in the NFL Draft it would be New York Giants legend Victor Cruz.

After all, Cruz was an overlooked receiver himself back in 2010 before the Giants took a shot on him.

Cruz played his college ball at the University of Massachusetts, compiling 1,958 yards and 11 touchdowns in his career, but it wasn’t enough for a team to use a draft pick on him.

Instead, he was signed the day after the draft by the Giants and ended up being a crucial part of their fourth Super Bowl win.

Now, in his retirement as a football analyst, Cruz is putting the spotlight on an underrated receiver in the 2025 NFL Draft.

When asked about his favorite draft prospect, Cruz described San Jose State wide receiver Nick Nash.

“There’s a kid named Nick Nash that plays for San Jose State,” Cruz told The U.S. Sun.

“He’s a former quarterback turned receiver, and I think he might be first or second in all of college football in catches, receiving yards, touchdowns.

“I mean, the guy gets like 15 targets a game and they move him all over the field.”

Nash is one of the coolest stories in college football. He started his career as a quarterback with San Jose State.

He never got much time as a starter though, only collecting 1,359 yards passing yards and 12 touchdowns in his career as a quarterback.

Nash showed his athleticism during his time as a quarterback though, rushing for 867 during his time at the position.

While he didn’t stick as a quarterback, his athleticism was enough to keep him on the team, just in a new position.

Wide receiver turned out to be the perfect spot for Nash, and he showed off with a 728-yard, eight touchdown season in his first year in 2023.

He is following that up with 902 yards and 11 touchdowns through just seven games. Nash leads all receivers in college football in touchdowns and receptions.

“It’s really impressive to see a former quarterback turned receiver and be that dominant,” Cruz said.

“I think he has a real chance and opportunity at the next level, and he might go low in the draft in the later rounds.

“If a team gives him a chance he could really do some damage and pay dividends as a good wide receiver number two or three that can go out there and make plays for you.

“I’m excited to see where he goes.”

Cruz already knows where he wants Nash to go, saying he’s been giving his former team hints about the young player for the 2025 Draft.

“I’ve been kind of nudging the Giants on keeping a look out for this kid and seeing where he nets out,” Cruz said.

The Giants could desperately use wide receiver help, only really having one solid option in rookie star Malik Nabers.

Adding a strong second option in a guy like Nash could help get their offense to the next level in the future.

Nash still has five more games, and any potential bowl games, this season to elevate his draft stock, so the Giants may have some competition in the draft if they want Nash on their squad.
