Social Media Erupts After Bride Elopes with Secret Lover on Wedding Night
Social media has been buzzing with reactions after it emerged that a newlywed bride from Bulawayo reportedly eloped with her secret lover on her wedding night.
The news of Sisasenkosi Mpofu’s decision to abandon her husband, Mbongeni Moyo, to spend the night with another man has captivated online audiences and sparked a wave of discussions on the internet.
Groom Left in Disbelief
After tying the knot, Mpofu reportedly left her husband to spend the night with her secret lover, Geshom Gwatiringa, a police officer stationed at Hillside Police Station. Moyo was bewildered when his new wife returned the following day without an explanation for her absence.
“When I confronted her about where she had been, she couldn’t provide a satisfactory answer,” Moyo stated.
After Moyo took the initiative to check his wife’s phone, he discovered intimate messages exchanged between Mpofu and Gwatiringa.
Faced with the evidence, Mpofu confessed, admitting she had spent the night with her lover. This revelation escalated the situation, leading to a violent confrontation.
Assault and Arrest
In the days following the incident, Moyo allegedly conspired with his brother-in-law, Fungai Mpofu, and friends Prosper Ndlovu and Allen Munhuru to confront Gwatiringa. They arrived at Gwatiringa’s home around 1 a.m., where they accused him of infidelity.
“They knocked at the door, and when he came outside, one of the accused grabbed him by the neck, accusing him of cheating with a married woman,” prosecutor Christina Manyika reported during the court proceedings.
Assault and Arrest
In the days following the incident, Moyo allegedly conspired with his brother-in-law, Fungai Mpofu, and friends Prosper Ndlovu and Allen Munhuru to confront Gwatiringa. They arrived at Gwatiringa’s home around 1 a.m., where they accused him of infidelity.
“They knocked at the door, and when he came outside, one of the accused grabbed him by the neck, accusing him of cheating with a married woman,” prosecutor Christina Manyika reported during the court proceedings.
Legal Proceedings Underway
Following the incident, a police case was filed against Moyo and his accomplices, leading to their arrest. They recently appeared before Western Commonage regional magistrate Sibongile Msipa-Marondedze, facing charges of attempted murder, to which they pleaded not guilty
