The high street retailer has listened to customers and given them what they want for the 2024 festive season.

Taking to Instagram to announce the return of the candles, M&S said: “Merry and bright.

“Our light-up candles are in demand – don’t miss the chance to get yours.”

The candles come in a variety of fragrances and designs.

Fruity fragrances

The fruity fragrances collection features scents that are refreshing and tropical.

They will often have notes of berries and non-citrus fruits such as pomegranate, apple and sweet pears.

The Driving Home For Christmas Light Up Candle has a “sweet and inviting aroma of winter apple and spice”.

Herbal fragrances

The herbal fragrances collection features scents that are often considered to have soothing and relaxing qualities.

The Wales, New York, Paris, London and Scotland Light Up Scented Candles all have a “refreshing scent that combines zesty notes of neroli, lime and bergamot”.

And each candle has a unique design reflective of its location.

For example, the Wales candle is designed with famous monuments and landmarks from Wales – the Transporter Bridge, Millennium Centre and the Principality Stadium.

Whereas the New York candle displays the iconic New York skyline that lights up when the wick is lit.

There are a couple of non-Christmas themed candles in the herbal collection – the Thanks A Bunch Light Up Candle and Blooming Lovely Light Up Candle.

The decorative glass jar features a charming snowy town scene that comes to life as the LED lights twinkle and glow when the wick is lit.

The light-up candles are £10, the Winter Spice 2 Wick Light Up Candle is £15 and the Light Up Candle & Refill Set is £20.

One shopper commented: “I look forward to these every year.”

And M&S replied: “They seem to almost be a tradition and are getting more popular with every passing year!”

A second customer said: “I still have one from last year and it’s beautiful.”

A third wrote: “Ahh I love your light up candles so much! Absolutely beautiful.”

Others described the candles as “magical” and “gorgeous”.

A customer who had purchased the New York themed candle, left a review which read: “Love it, brings back special memories of my time there.”

Whilst a customer of the Wales themed candle said: “Absolutely gorgeous gifts for my friends in Wales – they loved it!!”

Why Everyone Is Loving M&S

Deputy Fashion Editor Abby McHale revealed to Fabulous why M&S is the shop of the moment. She explained:

“M&S has really pulled it out of the bag this season, there is so much good product to be excited about.

“A brand once known for its ‘frumpy fashion’ that notion is long gone with it now being one of the leading high street stores for womenswear.

“Its handbag range in particular is super strong with them selling 170% vs plan, with lots more designer dupes for just a fraction of the price.

“The brand is now also the #1 for style perceptions, compared to the #3 spot it had last year, this comes from a really strong design team focused on modernising the brand, not only taking into consideration how the pieces look, but how easy they are to wear also.

“Price is also a big factor with you being able to get many good quality pieces all for under £30.

“After having a sneak peak of the upcoming collection there are so many more amazing pieces that are dropping over the next few months to keep your eyes on.

“Think leopard print dresses, colourful co-ords, embroidered boho jackets, plus lots of swimwear and amazing accessories, as well as great wardrobe staples that will last year on year.”
