Staggering cost of parking at LA Clippers new $2bn stadium revealed as fans rage ‘NBA is only for rich people’

THE Los Angeles Clippers’ massive new stadium is complete, but fans have already found a huge flaw.

The Intuit Dome cost $2 billion to construct, but it appears fans may be on the hook for some of that cost.

In the Clippers’ first game of the NBA season, fans discovered that parking costs a whopping $70 dollars at the arena.

Pile that on top of the price of a ticket to see a basketball game, and fans could be paying close to $200 per person to get into a game.

Steve Ballmer, the CEO of Microsoft and owner of the Clippers, poured his own money and his love of the Clippers into the stadium, trying to make it as state of the art as possible.

“We’re going to try to make this the most intimate, exciting place in the world to watch a basketball game,” Ballmer told ESPN.

“And I think we’re there. On the 23rd of October when we open, that will be validated.

“I don’t want to see [any technological glitches] opening night. I really don’t. And I’ll probably hold my breath a little. It’s like showing your new baby.

“There’s a bunch of things where I’ll be worried. But I think most of them will be just fine.”

While there weren’t any glitches with the tech inside the stadium, fans are probably hoping there was a glitch in the pricing for the parking.

No one was happy about the cost and fans quickly took to social media to rant about being priced out.

“Going to sports is becoming only for rich people and a whole generation of kids is going to be choked off from becoming big fans,” one fan said.

“I thought Steve Ballmer wanted to make prices cheaper so anyone could go?” another fan said.

“Glad I don’t drive lmao damn that’s crazy,” a third fan said.

“That better just be an opening night price,” a fourth fan said.

“Imagine paying $70 to park and then you walk in and the product is the Clippers,” a fifth fan said.

The Clippers didn’t give fans much to cheer for after splurging $70 on parking.

What the new TV deal means for the NBA?

By The U.S. Sun’s Assistant Sports Editor Damian Burchardt.

THE new TV rights deal is promising to be a humongous win for NBA players.

The league is set to more than double the revenue coming from its media partners, pocketing about $6.9 billion per year, which will inevitably lead to a huge salary cap spike in 2025-26.

That is going to send the value of player contracts skyrocketing.

Projected figures suggest we might see the first $100 million-per-year deal being signed soon.

Currently, Boston Celtics All-Star Jayson Tatum is projected to earn the highest single-season salary in NBA history, collecting $71.5 million in 2029-30.

If TNT Sports successfully matches one of the offers to maintain its decades-long partnership with the league, hoops fans will be on the winning side too.

The network’s flagship, Inside the NBA, is a one-of-a-kind sports entertainment show, as evidenced by ESPN’s ongoing failure to come up with its own version of the program in recent years.

The NBA wouldn’t be the same without Kenny and Ernie trying to make sense of Shaq and Chuck’s never-ending bickering every Tuesday night.

In their debut game at the Intuit Dome the team lost in overtime to the Phoenix Suns.

The 116-113 loss was thanks to a last-minute Kevin Durant bucket that pushed the game to overtime before the Suns finished the job.

“We competed, we played hard. We all feel it was a game we should’ve won,” Clippers coach Tyronn Lue said.

“Can’t question how hard we’ve played. How in tuned we were.

“Overall, I thought our guys did a good job of competing.”
