Donald Trump and Kamala Harris are tied in a major new national poll.

According to the New York Times and Siena College poll, both the Republican and Democratic nominees are at 48 percent of the vote.

The result is a bad sign for Harris, as Democrats have maintained a lead in the popular vote in recent elections even as their candidate has lost the Electoral College.

Harris has also fallen back slightly from the last time the poll was conducted earlier this month, when she had a one-point lead.

Ultimately, regardless of the popular vote, the election will be decided in seven key battleground states, where the two candidates are also competing neck and neck.
