Lakshmi Puja, also popularly known as Deepawali, is a major festival of Hinduism, celebrated every year on the new moon day of Kartik month. This year there is much confusion regarding the date of Diwali. So let’s know when is the auspicious time for Lakshmi Puja and when is the Amavasya date of Kartik month starting and ending.
According to Vedic calendar, Amavasya of Kartik month is believed to start from 3:52 pm on October 31, 2024 and would end up at 6:16 pm on November 1, 2024. According to the same, Amavasya date would be there through the night of October 31; hence, this night is very auspicious for Lakshmi Puja.
Diwali Puja is done after sunset, i.e. in Pradosh period. Pradosh period this time starts at 5:36 pm and will go till 8:11 pm. Taurus Lagna will be from 6:25 pm to 8:20 pm. Accordingly, Lakshmi Puja can best be done in the period between 6:25 pm to 8:20 pm.
According to the theory of Jyotish Shastra, what is finally agreed is the importance of Amavasya Tithi according to Udaya Tithi. If you think that Udaya Tithi is crucial, then it would be advisable to celebrate Diwali on November 1. But most scholars think that the right time to worship Lakshmi is on Amavasya day in the Pradosh Kaal.
