People are always stunned when I tell them I had cosmetic surgery aged SIX – I had more at 10, and it still wasn’t right

A WOMAN has left people stunned after revealing she had her first cosmetic surgery procedure at the age of six.

Hannah explained that she was so conscious of her protruding ears that she went for an otoplasty – otherwise known as ear pinning – when she was a little girl.

So her parents put her forward for surgery at the tender age of just six[/caption]

She took to TikTok to share her “cosmetic surgery journey”, as she began: “Yes, I actually did have cosmetic surgery when I was six and ten.

“So what I had done was an otoplasty and basically when you’re younger, your ears either stick out or are kind of flat to your head.

“And my ears stuck out because I had no cartilage in my ears, like none at all.

“And without that, your ears will just pop out from your head.”

While it’s “pretty common” to have the surgery around seven, she had hers at six.

“I think a lot of people do have like a lack of cartilage, but I think because I had absolutely none and they decided to do it a little bit earlier,” she said.

But things didn’t go well the first time around, as Hannah’s doctor did the surgery “in half the amount of time”.

“It’s meant to take two and a half hours and it took just over an hour,” she said.

“I don’t really know what happened, but the stitches behind my ears actually ended up coming out maybe like three months after we’d taken the bandages off.

“So my ears popped back to normal again, which was so sad for me.

“I was so insecure about them, finally thought that I had them done and yeah, it just went back to normal.”

So they decided to put Hannah forward for another surgery, which she had aged 10.

“The second surgery was better,” she said.

“It took the right amount of time and that’s how my ears are now naturally.

“And I think because my ears had popped out the first time, they decided to actually sew my ears to my head.”

Hannah then turned to show what her ears look like from the back, as she demonstrated that her ear just moves at the lobe and a tiny bit at the top.

What is an otoplasty?

AN otoplasty is a surgical procedure that can change the shape, size and position of the ears.

While it’s most commonly used to correct protruding ears, it is also used for congenital defects and trauma.

It involves using the ear cartilage to create permanent sutures.

It can cost between £1,500 and £3,000 to have the procedure done privately, although it can sometimes be covered by health insurance.

However, the middle part of her ear is firmly attached to her head.

“This back bit here is completely sewn to my head,” she explained.

“And I understand why people are super curious because whenever I tell anyone about it, they’re always like, I didn’t even know that was a thing!”

Hannah added that her parents agreed to her having the surgery because she was “super, super insecure” about her ears as a youngster.

“I used to wear headbands that covered (my ears), and I used to tuck my ears under them so people couldn’t tell that I had sticky out ears, whatever you want to call it,” she continued.

“If I was insecure about my ears at the age of five, imagine how I would have felt being a teenager with my ears!

“I just don’t think I would have been able to handle it.

“I got bullied for like my ears really badly when I was in primary school.

“I say badly, people used to just call me names and it just wasn’t great.

“I just can’t imagine how I would have felt as a teenager.”
