VERA fans are distraught after finding one of the show’s stars has gone missing from its final episodes.
To mark the end of the Vera era, ITV bosses have revealed a brand new documentary as Brenda Blethyn OBE bows out of the series.

Vera fans will be treated to two feature-length episodes and a documentary, to mark the end of the detective drama in which Brenda plays the titular character.
However Kenny Doughty, who played DS Aiden Healy, is absent from the series specials and the documentary – after leaving the show 18 months ago.
There will be behind-the-scenes footage and anecdotes from stars David Leon, Jon Morrison and Riley Jones as they remember Brenda’s finest moments, and Vera author Ann Cleeves will provide commentary.
But despite his many years on the ITV show, Kenny has sadly not been listed as a contributor.
The documentary will capture the extraordinary journey of Vera and its lasting influence on British crime drama – set against the stunning backdrop of Northumberland and the North East.
Brenda will play Vera Stanhope for one more ITV drama series, and fans are getting teary about saying farewell and watching the character hang up her iconic hat and anorak.
The final episodes will see Vera return to her roots and embark on a personal journey, entitled Inside and The Dark Wives.
They intertwine gripping murder mysteries with the heartfelt narrative of Vera’s personal journey.
In the first episode, Vera is called to the banks of the Tyne River where the body of a young man has been discovered by some anglers.
A tangled web of a broken relationship, secret love, grudges, regret, and fraud begins to emerge.
Has our former inmate been served cold justice, or does his death run deeper?
The final episode brings Vera back to a familiar place when a body is found at the foot of legendary local stones The Dark Wives – with memories of childhood in the background.
Vera must work hard to uncover the mystery of why a bright young student would be violently attacked and left so far from home.
This poignant episode weaves together past and present and
makes for a compelling and emotional farewell.

David Leon returns as DI Joe Ashworth, Jon Morrison as DC Kenny Lockhart, Riley Jones as DC Mark Edwards, Sarah Kameela Impey as pathologist Dr Paula Bennett, and Rhiannon Clements as DC Steph Duncan.
Meanwhile Brenda has already confirmed she has landed her next role.
