45-year-old Calvin Wayne Bowen and 25-year-old Derrick Baylee Robinson were arrested on charges filed by Caldwell and Burke County Sheriff’s Officers.
Bowen was arrested on October 17, and Robinson was arrested October 22 after being listed as wanted. They’re both charged with multiple counts of breaking & entering, larceny after breaking & entering, larceny of a firearm and possession of stolen property. He’s also charged with larceny of a motor vehicle and possession of a stolen motor vehicle.
A joint investigation between the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office and Burke County Sheriff’s Office led to the arrest of the two suspects. Authorities say they are responsible for at least four break-ins with Larceny that occurred in Caldwell and Burke Counties between October 1 and October 22. The incidents occurred at homes in both counties in the aftermath of the damage caused by Hurricane Helene.
Investigators believe that the offenders were targeting residences that were vacant due to power outages. During the joint investigation authorities recovered a total of 80 stolen items. Some of the recovered items include two side by side ATVs, a Honda Four-wheeler, numerous firearms, and multiple household items. The total value of the items recovered is estimated at $50,000
Both Bowen and Robinson were both placed in the Caldwell County Detention Center under secured bonds from both Caldwell and Burke Counties. Investigators are still seeking assistance to recover additional items that have been stolen in these cases.
