(WSPA) — For 30 years, he’s been a voice of encouragement.
“Our friend, our brother Rob has passed away,” co-host Lizz Ryals said.
On Wednesday night, beloved ‘His Radio’ host Rob Dempsey passed away.
Dempsey’s wife Amy announced he passed from a blood clot in the lung that went to his heart.
“God’s got a different story, I’ve seen and it’s going to be completely different,” Dempsey said, “I know it’s all for his glory.”
On October 16, Rob talked about his battle with cancer.
In September, Dempsey said he noticed unusual signs that something wasn’t right, and he was diagnosed with stage two bladder cancer.
“I have been all over the place emotionally,” Dempsey said. “Especially when I think about my family.”
Rob said someone told him to read and claim the prayer of Jabez in 1 Corinthians 4:10.
“Keep me from harm that I will be free from pain and God granted his request,” Dempsey said.
An outpouring of love has been shown on Facebook with those who knew him writing in disbelief and with heavy hearts.
One message reads “Rob has now stood in the presence of God and heard the words, well done, my good and faithful servant.”
Many say Dempsey’s love for God and love for others has impacted them in life changing ways.
“We are going to play this music that brought so much love and encouragement to not only Rob but those that he served every single day, a HIS Radio member said. “Neon lights and stained-glass windows, old bar stools and back row pews. I ran to one more than the other…but I couldn’t outrun you.”
