The price is a steal as another 1977 Chevrolet Monte Carlo is listed for $27,500 in a classified ad by Classic Auto Mall Inc.
The two-door model was wildly popular when it was released – Chevrolet sold more than 400,000 Monte Carlos out of showrooms in 1977.
However, there’s a good reason for the used car’s low price as pictures of the classic vehicle show a blue Chevy with significant rust eating away at the body.
The eBay ad says the original 350 v8 engine is still intact, but warned that it’s “stuck.”
“Car has a lot of rust on the body,” the listing advised.
“Frame condition is unknown. Clean title. Asking $1800.”
A clean title means the car was never reported to insurance companies for having damage.
The rust is likely the reason for the discount, as motors experts at outlet Auto Evolution estimate the car’s frame has damage from the corrosion.
“Based on the provided photos, I’m inclined to believe that the metal damage is the main reason to walk away and look elsewhere,” the outlet reported.
The expert said the car looks like it’s been sitting in one spot for a while.
Plus, the stuck engine means that buyers would have to install new unit to get the car on the road again.
The car is sold by a garage called Backyard Classics, which is located in Thief River Falls, Minnesota.
“Most of our vehicles are projects,” the listing notes.
“They need a lot of love. They have been in fields, barns, garages and yards for many years. They need total restoration.
