This year Kartik Amavasya will begin from 03:52 pm on October 31 and go till 06:16 pm on November 1. This is creating confusion for a few about on what day to celebrate Diwali. According to astrologers, however, the most proper time for Lakshmi Puja will be on October 31, because on that day Amavasya Tithi will be prevailing from Pradosh Kaal till midnight.
Lakshmi Puja holds a special importance in Hinduism. People believe that Maa Lakshmi appeared herself at this Pradosh Kaal, hence this time is considered very auspicious. Scholars say, if Amavasya Tithi falls in Pradosh Kaal, then it will be the best Muhurta for Diwali.
Lakshmi Puja’s auspicious time this year will be from 6:27 pm to 8:32 pm on October 31. You can worship Lakshmi Mata along with Ganesh Ji during this time with rituals. While worshiping, take care of the cleanliness and decoration of the house, as all these are necessary to welcome Maa Lakshmi.
Udaya Tithi is the date at the time of sunrise of that day and holds special significance in Hinduism, but this year it would be more appropriate to worship Lakshmi on October 31, keeping in mind Pradosh Kaal and Nishith Kaal.
According to many scholars, worship on November 1 would not be inauspicious because Amavasya Tithi would end on that day. Also, as there is no Pradosh Kaal, it cannot be the right time for Lakshmi Puja at that moment.
