Fresh blow for Strictly’s Dr Punam as she’s set to crash out of show despite NEVER landing in dance off, say bookies

DOCTOR Punam Krishnan is facing a tall order this weekend, even though she’s avoided the dance-off so far.

The TV medic, who is partnered with Gorka Marquez, is the favourite among bookmakers to get the chop following Paul Merson‘s departure on Sunday night.

She is the 2-1 frontrunner to go next with bookmaker Coral, ahead of Pete Wicks, who is 7-2, while Sam Quek is at 9-2.

At the other end of the betting spectrum, blind comedian Chris McCausland is a heavy 2-5 favourite to win the series followed by Tasha Ghouri at 4-1.

“Punam Krishan is under the most pressure for a big performance this weekend, according to our betting,” said Coral’s John Hill.

This week is a spooky spectacular for Halloween and will see Punam and Gorka Tango to Sweet Dreams by Eurythmics.

Last weekend viewers were outraged by the judges’ alleged underscoring of a trio of talented celebrity contestants.

Dr Punam, Sam Quek and Tasha Ghouri wowed viewers – but failed to hit the spot with judges.

Olympian Sam performed a Quickstep to Natasha Bedingfield’s Unwritten alongside pro partner Nikita Kuzmin and earned 26 out of 40.

Tasha and Alijaz performed a stunning Tango to Dog Days Are Over by Florence & The Machine and scored 34.

While Punam and Gorka only bagged 21 points for their Viennese Waltz and ended up second bottom of the leaderboard.

Craig Revel Horwood told them: “I thought it was a little bit too social, like you were just going for a stroll in the park without a care in the world.

“It’s true. It lacked musicality, it lacked energy.”

Luckily for them it was Merson and JLS’s JB Gill who had to to battle in the decider.
