At around 8:30 am on October 24, SuperSport United announced the signing of 24-year-old Abubeker Nasir.
Gavin Hunt’s side broke the news on X, saying, “SuperSport United is pleased to confirm the signing of Ethiopian striker Abubeker Nasir from Mamelodi Sundowns on a one-year deal. Welcome Home, Abubeker!”
The Ethiopian international hasn’t featured much for the Brazilians since suffering a near career-ending injury during the 2022/23 season.
The Pretoria outfit has started the season slow, with four points in five games, scoring only one goal.
They will hope Nasir can bring them back to winning ways and instil some champion-like habits into the side.
They face Kaizer Chiefs on Saturday, October 26.

Gavin Hunt’s headache
The schedule has not been kind to Hunt’s side, whose last two games were against Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates, and will face AmaKhosi again this weekend.
“It’s difficult. We played Sundowns away, Chiefs away, Pirates away twice and Cape Town City away,” Hunt told KickOff.
“It’s difficult when you have a young side, bringing these kids on… 18, 19, you’re going to suffer. So, yeah, I can’t fault the effort, they are working and everything.
“It was a great second half, we could have got something, and obviously the second goal goes in,” the South African coach continued.
“And I better not say because I’m going to be hammered every week. So, congratulations to Orlando Pirates.
“It’s amazing, only in this country but they are a good side, they’ve invested well in their, they’ve got so many options, they’re a good side and they will be able to be a force to be reckoned with.
“Nobody has played Chiefs, Pirates and Chiefs (again) in a week. If Pirates, they never play Sundowns on Wednesday. So, it’s crazy.
“We have a big game on Saturday, we will try to get over this period. I know the players are committed but obviously we’re lacking the quality,”
