Starlink Now “Sold Out” in Harare & Surrounding Areas – Here’s What You Can Do For Now

Harare Residents Left in Limbo as Starlink Services “Sold Out”

Starlink is now “sold out” in Harare and nearby areas like Norton, Ruwa, and Chitungwiza, affecting those who were yet to purchase the satellite internet service. If you were hoping to sign up for the high-speed internet provider, you’re out of luck – Starlink has marked these locations as unavailable on its map.

People trying to sign up are now greeted with the message:

“Starlink Residential is not available in your area. Enter your email below to be notified about future availability and product updates, or if Starlink is active in your market, visit our Roam page to order our mobile offering.”

Existing Starlink customers in Harare and surrounding areas can continue to use the service. However, for new customers, the “sold out” status indicates that Starlink is currently at capacity.

The company has not given a timeline for when more connections will be available.

Areas Currently Affected by Starlink Being “Sold Out”

This limitation impacts more than just Harare. Nearby areas are also affected, including:

  • Norton
  • Ruwa
  • Chitungwiza
  • Mazowe
  • Nyabira
  • Arcturus
  • Epworth
  • Melfort
  • Goromonzi

For residents in these locations who have yet to purchase Starlink, it remains unclear when the service will become available again.

What Are Your Alternatives For Internet Services?

If you’ve missed the chance to get Starlink, there are still other options. Local providers like Econet’s SmartBiz, Liquid, and TelOne offer various internet packages that could meet your needs while you wait.

Starlink’s Roam service allows you to use their satellite internet in areas outside Harare.  You can sign up for Starlink services using other towns’ addresses and then move the kit to Harare under the Roaming service.   However, the Roam service has limitations, especially when used in congested areas like Harare, where speeds can be slower.

One Starlink user voiced their frustration, saying,

“The internet speeds are getting worse, and it doesn’t seem to be improving at all. I’ve been frustrated for weeks.”

Bear in mind that Roam users won’t receive priority over existing Starlink customers, which means the connection might be even slower.

The Future of Starlink in Harare

For now, those who missed out on Starlink will need to explore other options or wait. You can sign up for updates from Starlink, but there’s no word on when more capacity will be available. As Starlink continues to expand, there’s hope that more space will open up for new customers.
