Torino Football Club academy launched in Kwale

In a major boost for grassroots football development in Delta State, and Nigeria in general, ACT Sports, in collaboration with the Delta State Football Association (DFA), officially launched the Torino Football Club/Academy at the Kwale Township Stadium on Wednesday.

The event marked the beginning of a talent development initiative aimed at nurturing young footballers and providing them opportunities to showcase their skills internationally.

The head coach of Torino football club Academy, Coach O. Ferry, an Italian who led the team for the unveiling, emphasized the academy’s mission to elevate young talents to the global stage.

According to Coach Ferri, “We are here to scout for talented players, from the youngest to the adults, in partnership with Torino Football Club in Italy. If you perform well on the field, you will be selected for further training and potentially play for the club abroad”.

Ferry urged the players to stay focused and disciplined, saying, “Comport yourselves, give your best, and I assure you, we will all enjoy the activities lined up.”

Reflecting on his experience scouting talents across various countries, Pastor Samuel R. Oyibo added, “I’ve been to many places, including Asia, where football was barely known. With time and dedication, we made football a recognized sport there. I believe the same can be achieved here.”

Pastor Samuel also expressed gratitude to his family and the Delta Football Association (DFA) for their support, especially commending DFA Chairman, Hon. Godwin Adode, for his commitment to football development in the state.
