Public feedback gathered at Fox Run Nature Center open house

(MONUMENT, Colo.) — Plans for a future nature center at Fox Run Park in northern El Paso County continue to progress, as El Paso County Parks and Community Services held an open house to gather public feedback on Wednesday, Oct. 23.

The center is designed to feature two buildings–an observation tower and a canopy walk. The tower is designed to allow visitors to peer into and just above the tree canopy. The nature center will be 100% electric, utilizing heat pumps and radiant floor heating.

  • A sign now sits on the designated spot for the Fox Run Nature Center, but neighbors in the area are concerned on the impact this new addition will have.

“The initial master plan for Fox Run Regional Park back in the 80s had a nature center, wanted even back then,” said Todd Marts, Director with El Paso County Parks and Community Services. “So we knew that it was something that we wanted to do, and the master plan that we did in 2013 really was the driving force for us to pick northern El Paso County.”

Not everyone is thrilled over this news, however. As FOX21 News previously reported, neighbors have said they are concerned about the new center, and more cars on their streets.

The new center is expected to break ground in 2026.
