South Carolina breaks one-day voting record – again

(WSPA) – South Carolina voters cast a record number of ballots during a single day in the early voting period on Tuesday, breaking a record set only the day before.

According to the South Carolina State Election Commission, 127,792 voters cast a ballot on Tuesday, more than 1,000 more people who showed up to vote on Monday.

The previous one-day record was November 4, 2022 when 70,100 ballots were cast.

Voters have also set similar records in North Carolina and Georgia over the past week.

In total, more than 254,000 voters have cast their ballots in the first two days of the early voting period.

The total is more than half of the 561,563 early votes cast in 2022, with more than a week of early voting remaining.

According to data released by the state, turnout has been the highest in Charleston County, where 24,599 voters cast ballots over a two-day period. More voters, 12,311, went to the polls on Tuesday than on Monday, 12,311.

In the Upstate, the biggest turnouts have been in Greenville, 20,832 voters over two days and Spartanburg, 12,819 over two days.

In both counties, more voters went to the polls on Tuesday than Monday.
