WALMART has dropped a new return policy and urges shoppers to watch out for an important date.
The new policy, already in action, gives shoppers three months to return their items.
Walmart said: “From October 1 through December 31, 2024, all items purchased in-store or online can be returned until January 31, 2025.”
This generous returns window will be automatically updated on the shopper’s listings, along with some general returns advice.
What is the advice?
- You must include slips with all your items to process your return.
- Eligible items will receive free in-store or online returns.
- You can increase cost efficiency by adhering to Keep it, Partial Keep it, and Replacement options. Visit the Seller Center for more information.
- As stated on the website: “Review Post-Purchase Quality insights via the Listing Quality dashboard to help you optimize based on the experiences of your customers.”
What is excluded from the policy?
- Wireless phones
- Walmart protection plans
- AppleCare
- Precious metals
- Luxury items. These are items above $300 that are new or preowned apparel, shoes, accessories (e.g. purses, sunglasses), jewelry, and watches
It comes after Amazon offered a similar policy during the pandemic, offering customers a four-month window to return their items.
But this year, Amazon’s window begins on November 1 and finishes on December 31, 2024.
So shoppers have until January 31, 2025, to return their items.
Although Apple brand products bought from Amazon must be returned by January 15, 2025.
Usually, sellers aren’t big on wide return windows as it allows someone who bought a Halloween costume to return it after New Year’s.
However, sellers tend to provide them to boost shopper satisfaction.
It is important to note that Walmart has the right to modify the conditions of a policy at any time.
It can also limit, or decline returns or exchanges regardless of whether the shopper has a receipt.
Store Managers have the final say to accept or decline an item for return but under no circumstances may they accept the return of an ineligible item.
