VICKSBURG, MS – One person has been shot on Fisher Ferry just outside the city limits.

At around 8:30 p.m., a man was shot at 320 Fisher Ferry. The incident stemmed from an argument at that location with several people. The wounded party, a 27-year-old with a Utica address, then drove themselves to a relative’s home, who then drove them to an area hospital.

Evidence at the scene of the incident indicates the victim may have been injured while in their vehicle at the Fisher Ferry address.

According to Warren County Sheriff Martin Pace, investigators have located the victims’ vehicle and impounded it.

Sheriff Pace said it is early in the Fisher Ferry shooting investigation and will release more info when appropriate.

The Vicksburg Daily News will update this story when that information is released.

Last night a shooting occurred on Hillside Drive in the city. Reportedly a home was struck my bullets in the incident. The Vicksburg Police Department has not released any information on this shooting. Multiple people reported the shooting to the Vicksburg Daily News.

This marks several weeks in a row where gunfire has been heard in the city and county. This includes our story on three reports of gunshots on Sunday. Those reports were messaged to the Vicksburg Daily News over the course of the evening.

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has ranked Mississippi as having the highest rate of gun deaths in the country at 29.6 per 100,000 residents. That’s just over double the national rate of 14.2 gun deaths per 100,000 residents.
