Greenville now considered to be a political hotspot

GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) — Greenville has seen a recent surge in political rallies with visits from Vice President Kamala Harris, former President Donald Trump and former Bill Clinton.

Political experts say it’s no surprise that Greenville is becoming a key stop this election season. Counties like Pitt, Halifax, Nash, Edgecombe and Bertie are all predominantly rural and black, areas where Harris is focusing her efforts to engage voters.

Meanwhile, Trump has found strong support in predominantly white rural areas, including Craven, Lenoir, Wayne and Duplin Counties, which heavily backed him in previous elections.

While both parties focus on rural North Carolina, Greenville is proving to be a strategic spot for rallying voter support.
