The Rosanna Pansino and Lunchly ‘Mold Cheese’ Controversy

The Rosanna Pansino and Lunchly "Mold Cheese" controversy has sparked widespread online discussion

YouTuber Rosanna Pansino was in a video comparing Kraft Heinz’s beloved Lunchables to Lunchly, which was launched by YouTuber trio MrBeast, Logan Paul, and KSI and was touted as a healthier option to Lunchables.

To her surprise, Rosanna Pansino found mold in the cheese portion of the Pizza from Lunchly. The allegation that the cheese was moldy has ignited a huge controversy, with netizens split in their opinions. However, the video has given Lunchly a bad name.

Rosanna Pansino shared the video on X and stated, “This is disgusting. I was filming a video comparing Lunchables to Lunchly and was shocked when I opened ‘The Pizza’ Lunchly. The cheese had MOLD! The expiration date was still two months away! I checked online and found at least a dozen other people posting that their Lunchly’s were moldy too.”

Rosanna Pansino went on to state that the expiry date of the product was two months away and that the product she reviewed had a best-by date of December 4, 2024. She also added that she found online a dozen other people posting that their Lunchly’s were moldy.

In a follow-up video, Rosanna Pansino stated, “They are supposed to be good for another two months,” she said. “This is molded. That’s mold! This is not safe, especially for kids who are so young; they might not know what mold looks like, so they might just eat it. This is really unhealthy; you should not eat mold. I think it’s a packaging issue; the sealant here feels really cheap. It is not vacuum-tight.”

“I did not fake this. I was honestly going to go over nutritional facts and differences between the two with two physicians’ input and give you healthy alternatives to these things that are still affordable. I did not expect this,” Pansino said.

Social Media Erupts Over Rosanna Pansino’s Controversial Video

One user posted on X,

“That level of mold is hard to achieve with pre-grated mozzarella cheese; it would take months in a fridge to achieve that, or these were held in transit without being chilled for days… This is so damn easy to avoid with some basic rules, completely embarrassing for Lunchly!”

There were also skeptics who alleged that Rosanna Pansino had faked a video showing mold in Lunchly’s mozzarella cheese. This led to Rosanna Pansino releasing an unedited version of the clip with a terse caption, “Well, here you go.” Pansino also expressed concerns for the naïve consumers and asked people to be cautious while eating the product.

Makers Believe Lunchly Outshines the Competition

The launch product quality has been questioned before. However, the makers of the product have rebutted these allegations and maintained that it is better than traditional lunch kits and is healthier since it contains better quality ingredients and fewer calories and sugars.

The promotional video describes Lunchly Pizza as composed of cherry freeze, pizza crust, milk chocolate puffed rice bar, flavoured Prime, pizza sauce, cheese, and pepperoni made with pork.

Rosanna Pansino is not alone, as there are other YouTubers and influencers, including DanTDM, who have criticized Lunchly since its launch in September 2024.

The latest moldy cheese controversy has added fuel to the criticism, raising concerns about Lunchly’s overall quality and safety.
