EastEnders fans spot clues proving who killed Harry Mitchell’s girlfriend Shireen – and it’s bad news for Walford

EASTENDERS fans spot clue proving who killed Harry Mitchell’s girlfriend Shireen – and it’s bad news for Walford.

The BBC soap threw a curveball this week as Jack Branning revealed Harry is suspected of murdering his missing girlfriend and that’s the reason the Mitchells moved to Walford.

But they think Nicola, who will soon be arriving in Walford was the real culprit[/caption]

Police detective Jack was trying to warn daughter Penny off Harry as well as stop Harry from blackmailing him with the assault footage.

But it backfired and Penny believed Harry’s explanation that they were a fiery couple but he didn’t do anything.

And fans agree – but they think they’v spotted proof of what actually happened – and it’s bad nws for Walford.

Instead of Harry killing Shireen, they think his soon to be arriving mother Nicola killed her – and dad Teddy covered it up.

One fan wrote: “Okay, I know who murdered Shireen. It was Nicola, and Teddy agreed to cover it up.

“There were two pieces of dialogue in this episode that gave it away.

“Firstly, in the scene where Harry and Penny were talking in the garage, Harry told Penny that the police thought he killed Shireen but nobody believed him ‘apart from his dad’.

“That meant that even people like Barney had doubts. But why would Teddy be so certain Harry didn’t do it? Because he knows who did do it.

“Secondly, in the scene where Barney and Teddy were talking about the Avani situation, Teddy said something like ‘why did you let Ravi off the hook and not tell the police? Did you think Avani would come running into your arms? Because I’m telling you, it doesn’t always work out like that.’

“I think this is implying that Teddy has been in a similar situation to Barney before, where he thinks keeping a secret from the police will bring the woman he loves into his arms.

“I think it will be revealed that Teddy and Nicola broke up a long time ago, but Teddy has always harboured a torch for her and wants to get back together (a little like Alfie and Kat).

“He found out that Nicola killed Shireen (for a reason that is not yet clear) and decided to keep it secret because he thought Nicola would realise she felt the same if he did.

Darkest soap storylines

Over the years the likes of EastEndersEmmerdale and Coronation Street have all tried to try outdo each other with their outlandish plots in a bid to keep us tuning in each week. But here are some of the darkest that had fans in shock…

  • EastEnders: Tony grooming Whitney (2008-2009) – Tony King first appeared in Albert Square in 2008 as the boyfriend of Bianca, played by Patsy Palmer. But it was quickly revealed he was a paedophile who had been grooming vulnerable Whitney, Bianca’s adopted stepdaughter from a previous relationship, since she was 12. The shocking storyline attracted more than 200 complaints within a week of it beginning. Whitney waited until her 16th birthday to reveal the truth to a horrified Bianca, who called the police.
  • Emmerdale: Holly’s drug addiction and shock death (2010-2016) – In 2010, Holly Barton (played by Sophie Powles) became Emmerdale’s first teenage drug addict. The shocking storyline saw her taking cocaine on a night out before developing a deadly heroin habit. Parents John and Moira desperately tried to help get their daughter clean but when Holly returned in 2016, following a four-year absence, she quickly relapsed. Fans were left stunned and heartbroken when distraught Moira found Holly dead in her bed from a heroin overdose.
  • Hollyoaks: Luke’s rape (2000) – Actor Gary Lucy was just 17 when he took on this groundbreaking storyline, which saw his character Luke Morgan become soap’s first male rape victim. Luke had endured a long-running bullying campaign by football rival Mark Gibbs – who raped him after Luke stood up to him. Luke was left suicidal following the brutal attack, before opening up to his brother Adam. Gibbs was sentenced to eight years in prison. Gary won the Best Actor gong at the British Soap Awards in 2000 for his performance.
  • Coronation Street: Evil Richard Hillman (2001-2003) – Just a mere mention of ‘Richard Hillman’ is enough to send a shiver down the spines of soap fans. He is often ranked one of the most evil soap villains and it’s not hard to see why. The smooth-talking financial adviser bashed his ex-wife Patricia over the head with a shovel. In a bid to keep his mother-in-law Audrey quiet, he set fire to her house. And when Maxine caught him trying to murder Emily Bishop, he took a crowbar to her head. He made his exit from the cobbles in 2003 when he drove Gail Platt, played by Helen Worth, and her family into the canal. They survived, but he didn’t.
  • “Unfortunately, that did not happen, and Nicola left the family again.

“Teddy is continuing to keep the secret because of his love for Nicola, but also because he knows that Harry will be *furious* with him if he finds out that Teddy knew the truth and didn’t tell anyone.”

Nicola Mitchell will soon arrive in Walford with actress Laura Doddington playing the role.
